Here’s the research behind this next generation Photon Counting Computed Tomography (PCCT) Research done by @ManusAI

Interesting reason for its existence, h/t @grok

I thought we were past big clunky machines, and have Ai full body scans ?

Wild, I wonder about all of the functions! Notice how the big companies focus a lot on governmental/institutional level projects?

I see something my insurance won’t deem medically necessary…

if canon can, you can

Old school.

there's a literal ton of rotating magnetic assembly under the cover off that ring and there's no track visible on the cabinet. gonna say AI simply because there's no way that thing moves without the side cabinet being anchored to the concrete. an expo venue would not appreciate concrete anchors being sunk a foot deep into their floor.

Strange printer. Where is the toner or colour refilled?

Here is a different view of it. It’s not AI, the panel on the right where the scanner head attaches is flexible and moves up and down with the scanner head.

What's embarrassing here is they stuck with the same rotating apparatus as always. Like someone back there got it in their mind that it would be cool to spin a thousand pounds of hardware around really fast for no reason.

No more IV and oral contrast?

Answer to my own question, Why is this better? Standing/Upright (Next-Gen CT) * How it works: Patient stands or sits in a specialized gantry, or the gantry moves around them. * Key Advantage: Captures images in a functional, weight-bearing position, mimicking daily life. Benefits of Upright CT * Spine & Joints: Better diagnoses for lower back pain, sciatica, scoliosis, disc issues, and knee pain that only appear when standing. * Abdominal/Pelvic Organs: Shows organ descent (bladder, anorectal junction) due to gravity, improving diagnosis for certain conditions. * Cancer Treatment: In radiotherapy (often vertical), sitting up stretches lungs, better targeting tumors and reducing radiation to healthy tissue. * Reduced Dose: Some systems use cone-beam CT, a narrower X-ray beam for lower radiation exposure. * Comfort: Seated options can be more comfortable for patients with lung issues who struggle to lie flat.

Pretty cool, but how can we make it even smaller?

And whats the point of changing its orientation? Now we have to stand to be scanned?

I have been getting one or two CT scans every year for the last 15 years. It used to be a half-hour plus, now it's mere moments. Technology is pretty awesome

Is this full body 360 degree scan and that too while standing?

CT scan? No it's literally a Human Cannon. Says it right there on the side. The new aiming tech looks pretty nice.

The one I experienced in Washington state was the size of a microwave oven. Wtf is this?

Vein viewers use near-infrared light, which is absorbed by veins and reflected by surrounding tissue, to map veins up to 15mm deep and project the results onto the skin

“Now for only $15,999, you too can have one fucking scan!”

No more claustrophobia

Does it have gamma rays and will it turn me into the Hulk?

A ride on this beauty costs how much?

Ai not real

Certainly an engineering acheivement. Seems very specialized though--not too many patients I would trust to stay standing still for a scan like that.

Next gen cancer

Oh, I need one!!!!!!

I wonder if it has less radiation?

Mu dai Allah ya sa mu shiga Aljannah.

They need to do something for mammogram…. The most non-ergonomic medicine device in human history

@grok what is the radiation from this device?

Now they will be able to scan a thin person standing upright.

I can tell you a problem for that machine right now, it will not fit an extra large person? 350+lbs a very common problem with some freestanding facilities
