Saying "NO AI data centers" won't end in victory. They'll just build them anyways. If you truly want to make a difference, you need to say, "No data centers, UNLESS..." Turn it into a negotiation instead of a war, so we can fight over what really matters. No data centers UNLESS they're not draining our energy. In fact, you could say, "you want 10 gigawatts of power? Ok, YOU pay for it. And because we’re allowing you to do it, you have to produce 15 gigawatts of power and give the excess to the grid." It's a win-win and YOU control the terms.

People in Utah have started asking us an important question, when you build these power facilities for AI data centers, can some of that energy be sold back into the local grid? The answer is yes. That completely changes the conversation. Instead of being seen as “the evil data center guys,” we can help power Utah’s grid while also building critical AI infrastructure for the future. And despite the headlines, we’re not building the world’s largest data center overnight. We’re starting with just 1.5 gigawatts with 1 gigawatt of net IT load a small fraction of the long-term proposal and proving the model first. And it’s not a 40,000 acre data center. Our project a full build out will span 10-13k acres 7,500 of which will be preserved. We want the people of Box Elder County to come see it themselves, the EPA air quality standards, the water permits, the noise compliance, and how the project actually operates before anything scales further.

Texas energy use is up 25% in 4 years. Load growth is not coming from people moving to Texas. It’s being driven by data centers, the electrification of industry, including oil and gas operations, and cryptocurrency mining. Oncor's filings show it clearly: 🏠 Residential load is growing very slowly, ~1% per year, even with significant population growth. 🏭 Industrial load is exploding. The Far West zone has tripled in the last 8 years. That's not a projection; it’s history through 2024. Looking forward, the interconnection queue is eye-popping: ⚡ The amount of big projects (data centers, Bitcoin mines, factories) wanting to connect to ERCOT is now 188 GW, more than double Texas’ all-time peak of ~85 GW. ⚡ So far, ERCOT has tracked ~7 GW of large loads operating and has another ~13 GW in advanced stages of study and/or interconnection. So yes, growth is dramatic, but much of what is in the queue won't get built. The takeaway: Texas’ load growth is being driven by large industrials and new digital infrastructure, not households. If large loads can be flexible and scale back, switch to batteries, and/or produce power during a small number of scarcity periods, there's lots of available power 98-99% of the hours of the year. China is eating our lunch on AI power. Period. You can dream about data centers in space and cities on Mars, and I love the vision, Elon executes, no question. But here on Earth, right now, we have a brutal reality problem. The grid is tapped out, demand for AI data centers is exploding, and we are nowhere close to keeping up. China added roughly 500 gigawatts of power last year. We added excuses. Nuclear matters, but it's 10 to 15 years away and AI does not wait. That is why my money is going into stranded natural gas, combined cycle turbines, and massive land tied directly to permits, power, fiber, water, and air rights all in one place. Whoever controls reliable, scalable power wins, and if we don't fix the grid fast, we lose.

Iran will ultimately face a choice, comply or face what I call “compliance through tenderization” the sustained use of precision strikes against strategic infrastructure to weaken military capabilities without prolonged ground wars. This is why AI and data centers have become a national security priority. The nations with the greatest compute capacity and AI capabilities won’t just lead in technology they’ll shape the future of global defense.

Be aware of what your electricity bill is now. Watch what happens if any AI data centers get built in your region. Your rates are going to increase dramatically because consumers are going to be forced to pay for the expansion of the power supply. If AI companies are not forced to fully fund their electricity requirements, the rest of us will pay for it. We are starting to see communities rise up and protest the building permits for AI data centers in their areas.

Is fear of AI holding the United States back? Some of the concern is understandable, we saw the same anxiety around the internet in the 1990s, but I believe AI will advance science, education, and create jobs we cannot even imagine today. The bigger issue is infrastructure. Our grid is tapped out, China is building power at an enormous pace, and the United States cannot afford to fall behind. If we want to lead in AI and remain globally competitive, we have to build the energy capacity to support it.
