Abiy Ahmed has been preparing for war with Tigray and Eritrea for months, while part of his army is stuck fighting in the vast Amhara region, as you can see on the map (from Thomas van Linge). We recently learned about additional regional implications, with Ethiopia hosting a Rapid Support Forces base, while Sudan is training and hosting TPLF forces in Qadarif state and Somali rebels in Somalia. In northern Ethiopia, a climate of war is settling, with both TPLF, Eritrea and ENDF mobilizing their forces. At the same time, ENDF are leaving large areas of Amhara regions, which are rapidly falling into AFNM control. DNE Africa exclusive footage from southern Gondar, Alem Ber town. On Wednesday fighting intensified between FANO militias and the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) in southern Gondar. FANO has made significant territorial gains, taking control of Ambesame, Wereta, Gasaye, Alem Ber, and Addis Zemen after routing ENDF units stationed there. FANO now controls Ambesame town, the district's administrative center. Fano also launched an offensive within 20 kilometers of Gondar city, cutting off the Gondar-Bahir Dar highway and taking control of Maksegnit. They stormed a city prison, releasing political prisoners. Visual evidence of the aftermath of the ethnic cleansing of Amharas and looting of their properties by Oromia Special Forces in Awura Godana, Amhara region. You can hear the OSF recording the video telling the Oromos from neighboring towns who’ve looted properties to leave before ENDF gets there. They’ve already replaced the welcome sign and annexed it into Oromia. According to the Ethiopian government, all regional forces had been “disband” last April but as you can clearly see from the video and picture, Oromia Special Forces are still intact and the only regional force that was disband was the Amhara. This biased action by the Federal government was the last straw for Amharas. #AmharaGenocide #WarOnAmhara #Ethiopia
