Car headlights have gotten absurdly bright – roughly doubling in recent years – and it's dangerous for others on the road. I encouraged the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to look into setting better maximum brightness standards in their upcoming infrastructure bill.

Right? How many miles down the road are these headlights manufacturers trying for? Some of these lights can be used for crowd control they are so aggravatingly blinding! Thanks for your work on this Congresswoman!

Thank God someone's on it. These assholes blinding me with their piercingly bright headlights are so obnoxious. Can't imagine how hard it is for older drivers. It makes you panic too.

I really wish our “elected” congresspeople were as bright as the headlights. It would nice to have WA reps who actually do something constructive for us since our state is taxing us into oblivion and taking away right at every turn. The surge in blinding headlights is a direct result of bureaucratic failure. FMVSS 108 hasn’t been meaningfully updated since 1966, letting automakers flood roads with hazardous LED systems that prioritize durability over safety. NHTSA’s 2022 ADB amendment did nothing to address core issues—glare intensity, blue-light toxicity, or spatial uniformity. Biden’s DOT ignored 60,000 petition signatures and allowed unregulated LED proliferation, spiking nighttime pedestrian deaths by 96% since 2010. Any infrastructure bill must enforce inverse-square law compliance for light dispersion, cap intensity at 1,500 lumens, and mandate FDA-NHTSA collaboration under 21 U.S.C. 360ii. No more loopholes for automakers—hold bureaucrats accountable for sidelining public safety.

This is the type of legislation we need the type of legislator that America needs to put in every elected office. Thank you!
