In 1990 this made perfect sense. Now no more. Fact is that Russia DID invade (Ukr). And without the trillions of spending the Soviets would have invaded for about 80% certainly. Climate change has to be tackled globally and the expence also. Europe only produces 6% CO2 globally.

I have to add (not sure how people will take it),off-shoots of those investments r many consumer and backbone research of what we call "as advancement of humanity". Is the destructive emotion the only root for advancement? (Is advancement/destruction lot greater?Qualitative?)
