Isack Hadjar sounding very apologetic in the media pen. “Yeah, I got told Carlos had aborted his lap. I was very surprised to find him pushing right behind me. In fact, he was definitely on the lap, so I definitely ruined his. So yeah, miscommunication with my team. “I got told he had aborted. I knew there was a Williams behind me. I knew Sainz was there, but he was not on a lap in my mind. So I aborted him. I would have moved out of the way if I knew he was pushing. It's not my driving standards, definitely not. So it's a shame for him.”

Q: Was there any temptation at any point when that red flag came out to think, if I just go off and just stop somewhere, I'm going to be on pole tomorrow? Carlos: Did it go through my head? Yes. But I remember what I stand for, which is values and fair competition. And trust me, it's super easy to fake an accident, especially today in Baku. I knew going out I was also one of the first cars so I could have perfectly done that, but your values is what defines you in the future and in your career and I think today was a day to, if there was anyone out there better than me, let them beat me. I knew they were out there are a couple of guys with three to five tenths quicker car that probably were anyway going to beat me, and in the end it was only one which was Max and yeah, very proud of today's quali because every time we had a good chance to put a good lap, we put it on the board. The team executed a very strong quali also in terms of run plan and execution and together we did a very strong quali.

carlos after monaco quali: i was happy to get in q2 because with that red flag it wouldn’t normally possible to get through.. one of the best laps of my life with cold tires sadly in q2 i didn’t go a good job, i didn’t had a good lap.. so i’m upset :(

HAECHAN 😭😭😭😭😭😭 🐻 when i was 4, i suddenly woke up while sleeping, and i was thirsty in the middle of the night. i tried to go to the kitchen, and far away, i saw some face looking at me. it really had eyes, a nose, and a mouth, and the eye area was kind of glowing. but since i was 4, i was like, “who are you?” and i went toward it. it was just a DISPENSER. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 👩🏻‍🦰 very interesting, you’re really good at telling stories!!

I would have loved to make my life a bit easier and winning just earlier next time. But it's always more exciting when it kind of goes down to the final race, final few laps. It's more exciting for everyone, for you guys most of all. But I won ones that, again, people have dreamt of winning. There are some of the most incredible ones. The lap I did in Monaco in quali was the only other time, probably in the last 10 years, that I cried a little bit over something. Because there I proved myself wrong. It was one other moment this season that I proved myself wrong. Because I had that bad run of results. I just couldn't perform in qualifying. Qualifying has always been my strong suit, my best. Yeah, it's been my strength since I was in karting. All my qualifying results are my thing and they weren’t at the beginning of the season. So, when I went to the hardest track to do a qualifying lap in, I turned off my delta for the first time that weekend. So, I couldn't see if I was on a better lap, worse lap, whatever it was. It's not been my best track in the past. For me to then to go there and put that lap I put in at the end of qualifying was one of the best moments of my career in a way because it was the time I almost doubted myself the most ever. In the most important season that it turned out to be.
