Carney goes on to say that what's required is investment. He talks about investment in carbon capture. What he doesn't talk about is investment in pipelines, LNG exporting plants, or oil refineries. His focus remains on reducing emissions, not increasing production. /3

Today Premier Doug Ford Doug Ford said one day Alberta might have to give approval for a federal tax on oil and gas headed from Alberta to the United States. I understand our new Prime Minister Mark Carney has mused about the same thing. Let me be clear… Alberta will never agree to such an absurd and self destructive idea. It’s not an option. I’m not going to agree to do something that will cost hundreds of thousands of Albertans (and Canadians) their jobs almost overnight. That would be like placing export tariffs on Ontario auto parts. Also a bad idea. There are many effective ways that Canada and Alberta can work together to pressure the U.S. President to change course on tariffs - THAT is not one of them… period.

Today, the Russian government officially announced that the VAT will grow from 20 to 22% in Russia starting on January 1, 2026. This money will go towards war. Each Russian will pay more for any purchase. VAT is just a name. In reality, that's a military tax in Russia.

In that time Alberta will be flooded with hundreds of thousands of new citizens Mark Carney and the Liberals will hand pick, from around the world. Stacking the deck against independence. Being fully aware of what is going on, is critical. Smith's argument is that this ruling will impact how Alberta is governed, so any appeal will be lengthy, by design. She will slow walk this for years to ensure independence never happens. That is a fact. Anyone who thinks she won't, is not paying attention.
