Cast Away’s ending has always stayed with me. The mixed emotions Hanks feels upon returning home- he survived, but missed so much. His forehead is still sunburnt but his face is lighter from the beard. It’s a bittersweet moment that only an actor of Tom Hanks’ caliber could nail.

I’m sorry- but Kelly is the villain in this story. Sending your new husband is…WILD WORK.

Cant watch his movies anymore. Pedo bastard.

Loved the end of this movie…. “I know what I have to do now. I've got to keep breathing because tomorrow the sun will rise. Who knows what the tide could bring?”

Whatever happened to the days where a woman lost the man she loved and could never marry anybody else to honor his memory? In today's world there's any number of opportunities ready to step into your place once you're gone, nobody's got the spiritual strength to resist.

The ending is SOOOO much deeper than almost everyone realizes. Kelly was never his fate. The woman from the ranch was always intended to be his fate. The plane had to crash just to ensure Destiny was fulfilled

I always remember the scene where the welcoming-back people had put out a multi-dish food spread on a table and it had seafood, like crabs legs and Tom just looks at it in disbelief that they had no clue that's what he had been eating this whole time and was sick of it. 👀🤯

He survived but his life, his world, it didnt. When he got back to the world he knew, that he loved, he discovered that it'd died. Having to deal with the loss and start over. Start over in a life, in a world that he no longer knew, and that no longer knew him. *In a matter of speaking.

The apology for his friend’s wife’s funeral was over the top. “I’m so sorry my plane crashed in the ocean and I’ve been marooned on a tiny island for almost 5 years”… Friend just look at him like “yeah that was kinda messed up dude you could’ve called” tf

In only 5 years she had a few kids and got remarried. Brutal

It is a complete mind scramble to the viewer as no one watching can relate to his experience, only that it was the most severe one could imagine surviving physically and emotionally, and then multiplied.

It’s a shame that so much of the movie was just one big advert for FedEx 🤷♂️

I always felt the real key to how he changed as a person was in the statement he made about Mary dying and how he truly should have been there for Stan. That was a 180 from before the crash when he said “I know a guy.” Stan’s smile showed how he could see the difference in Chuck

Omg the scene with Helen Hunt, when she knows she wants him, but she moved on & married someone else & they had a child, she really wants Hanks, but knows she can’t be with him, makes me cry every time I watch it!!

Patronizing af. Women move on. Any man seeing this, don’t pay the bill. They are not on your side tom.

This is one of the most bittersweet endings in cinema

It wasn’t in the clip, but the line where he says “You’re telling me Tennessee has an NFL team, but it’s in Nashville” was just an amazing touch. You had to be from Memphis to get it, of course. But man that was such a great detail.

The lighter scene got me. It cost him blood, sweat, and tears just to create what that lighter did with a simple click.

The entire scene where he goes to her house has always crushed me. Specially his reaction to her home and what he says to her - it culminate in this moment

@Ethan_Cadore It’s his visible disgust at the seafood spread that does it for me.

He should’ve ended up wth his girl tho. That part stunk

As I recall, this isn’t the ending of the movie. It ends with Hanks at a literal crossroad, trying to decide which way to go (spoiler alert: We’ll never know). That’s the message. You choose your path based on what life has given you.

I always think of the women in wars who were told their men had died, eventually moved on, as we have to do, but then …..

he lost kelly on that island, but ironically she kept him alive. he comes back and realizes... he lost her again. Everybody moved on but he had no choice to stay in the past. Great filmaking

Hate this movie and its message that, ultimately, life is meaningless.

I am still mad at Helen Hunt

Like, OK. But, what is the actual point of this movie. Like, for real. What's the lesson he supposedly learned here? I feel like I'm missing something, and, I legit need it spelled out for me.

This always made me mad. How could he go weeks without anyone telling him she moved on…. You’d think he’d know something was up when she wasn’t flown in right away to see him.

Stranded on Epstein island?

She was cheating on him with the Dentist before he got lost. There are clues throughout the movie.

Iv always maintained that he deserved his 3rd Oscar for this film. For much of the film it’s only him on camera. No musical score, just him and we were glued. First time we hear music is when he finally escapes the island and he sees it for the first time from afar.

The Titans should have thrown the ball into the end zone

I just picked this up. The dude that caused him that horrible tooth pain on the island, also stole his wife. wtf.

Yup. Superb What’s with the ice though? Great film but didn’t realize at the time what a product placement engine it was. FedEx, Dr. Pepper, Sex & the city…

His lady sure had a short grieving process. Was my big takeaway

The saddest ending was how the math worked out that Kelly cheated on him during their relationship.
