I agree that the language we use is important. Which is why calling it a genocide is necessary, so people truly understand the severity of the situation here.

Language IS important. That’s why words like occupation, genocide, and ethnic cleansing are important, not just saying war crimes. It’s not a conflict or a war; Israel is opening declaring its desire to eliminate Palestinians. #FreePalestine

Ceasefire is correct. Words and the way we use them are important. Which is why we need to call this exactly what it is. A genocide. Why? Because calling it war crimes may be true in the simplest terms, that does not put into perspective how indiscriminately one “side” is acting.

Misha, what you said is completely correct, and I can hear the emotion in your voice. Thank you Everyone else, I get you're upset he's not saying genocide, but please really listen to him. You'll see we are all in basic agreement. Don't let that make you completely dismiss him.

but WHY are you still refusing to call it genocide? not a conflict, it’s not a war. it’s genocide. i’m glad you’re educating yourself, and this is a vastly better statement than before, but you still have a lot to learn if you’re still refusing to acknowledge it’s a genocide.

i appreciate you using your platform to call for a ceasefire & for listening to us and trying to learn but like you said, language is important and it’s really important that you call what the Israel government is doing to Palestinians for what it is, a genocide

why are you calling it anything but a genocide? that’s exactly what it is.

Ceasefire. Yes, absolutely. No disagreement there. But I'm genuinely asking, not to be inflammatory, but is there a reason you don't want to call it a genocide? Even a genocide in progress? Because that's what it is.

The language we use is important. To call what’s happening in Palestine “war crimes” would imply that Palestine has a way of defending itself. It doesn’t. What is happening is a genocide. Use that word with all the severity and horror it brings. Words matter.
