The Transformers: The Movie a scene that emphasised the tragedy of the death of Optimus Prime. A loss felt by a generation of kids brought up watching the original Transformers cartoon. This scene helped shape the mythos of Transformers. The idea that Prime was a rank rather than a name. The Autobot Matrix of Leadership's first appearance as a physical object rather than a simple programme inside Optimus Prime's head like the comics. Something the comics later adopted. Merchandise inspired by the tragic loss of Prime included "Convoy Sleep Mode" Takara Tomy 2010 and "Alternate Universe Optimus Prime" 2021 Hasbro. This was the start of Hasbro’s childhood trauma toy line... This scene hit kids particularly hard in North America, which had the advantage of seeing the full seasons of Transformers G1, unlike the UK, which was limited and sporadic at best. The UK had to depend on the Marvel Transformers comics for content. "Until that day, til all are one." -Optimus Prime

The Driller Bot from #Transformers Dark of the Moon was the most complex asset ILM had done for Transformers by that point. It had 70,000 individual parts, over 7x more than Optimus Prime. This sequence where it is crushing the skyscraper took 288 hours per frame to render with all of the reflections and simulations. During the last weekend, ILM used their entire render farm, amounting to 200,000 rendering hours per day which is 22.8 years of rendering time in 24 hours.

When Aaron Rodger’s asked the head doctor at the NFL if you can get and spread the virus if you get the shot, that doctor said no. Rodger’s replied “tell me this then, doc, day 1 I get here, 5 scouts are out with Covid. All fully vaccinated. How’d that happen?” That doctor then called Rodger’s a conspiracy theorist.

New course: Transformers in Practice. You'll get a practical view of how transformer-based LLMs work, so you can reason about their behavior, diagnose problems like slow inference, and make smarter decisions about deployment. This course is built in partnership with AMD and taught by Sharon Zhou. You'll see how transformers generate text one token at a time, how the model decides which earlier words matter most when predicting the next one, and how techniques like quantization speed up inference on GPUs. This is not a video-only course; interactive visualizations throughout let you play with these concepts and build intuition that sticks. Skills you'll gain: - Understand why LLMs hallucinate, and RAG and chain-of-thought shape what they generate - Look inside the model to see how attention and layers combine to predict the next token - Diagnose inference bottlenecks and learn the techniques that speed up transformers on GPUs Join and understand what's really happening inside your LLMs:

“This is where clouds get there name from - it’s this Branch of the Jet Stream that has been stretching & organising these clouds into straight Lines” You seriously can’t make this up - Legacy Meteorolgists at The BBC are now blaming the Jetstream for all the Long Lines in the Sky that follow Planes as more people than ever have started to notice. You all know the real cause right?
