A lot of people are deliberately misunderstanding the point. On a train car there may be 10 normal black people on their way to work. One black guy gets on and starts terrorizing everyone. The impression of everyone else on the train: "Black people are dangerous and unpredictable" They ignore the 10 normal black people because they don't stand out. Like most black men are single and childless but if you ask people they think every black man has multiple baby mommas. Why? That's what they either encounter personally or increasingly what they see through social media. Like they believe that Daniel Penny is a hero, but they ignore the fact that he was helped by a black man, and they will say "black people are savages". It's a cognitive bias towards contrast. What stands out gets remembered.
