No doubt about it. Also if you pay attention in both of those efforts, while he made up ground around the turn into the stretch, there's instant acceleration once Machado shows him the whip.

I just don’t see how he’s not flying down the stretch. The only question is how much he will have to make up once he comes out of the far turn.

It’s that explosive kick. He consistently has it. I’m definitely concerned now about the muddy kickback he’ll face, but that’s a looonnnnnnng stretch.

In his latest YouTube video, 2022 1500m World champion Jake Wightman shares a ton of context around the injury that knocked him out of the Olympics. He reveals that in his final workout (one week out from race day in Paris), he was doing a 4 x 400m with six minutes rest. He went 48, 49, 50 and then felt his hamstring go with 200m left in the final rep but finished in 50s. Initially, he thought it was a cramp but it turned out to be a tear in his hamstring tendon. Wasn't able to run for seven or eight weeks after. 2024 season over. Now, he's back to training. Slated to race a 1500m at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston on Feb. 2. 🎥 FULL VIDEO:
