For Jackie Robinson Day, I returned to Philadelphia for the first time since I was traded in 1966. It was a full and very meaningful day. We visited and spoke to youngsters at The Philadelphia Stars Negro League Memorial Park, then toured the Phillies’ Pioneers in Pinstripes exhibit (recognize a young face on the wall there?). I had the opportunity to meet with the Phillies manager Rob Thomson, a fellow Canadian. Next, I had the honor of participating in a mental health discussion for Strikeout The Stigma with Cole Hamels and Drew Robinson. Finally, I threw out the first pitch at Citizen’s Bank Park, wearing my old Phillies number, 46. Thank you to the Philadelphia Phillies for having me out today! The interview was over twenty minutes. Almost all of it was discussion of vaccines and Cooper praising Gates for his global health work. One question about Epstein. "Our hospital is the largest [children's] hospital in Europe. More than 600 children are treated here every day. It is here that children find hope - hope for health, hope for life. And it is this institution that was hit by a Russian missile today. I am tired of saying that Russia is a terrorist country. This is further proof that Russia should not exist as a country," Okhmatdyt CEO Volodymyr Zhovnir said about today's Russian missile strike on the children's hospital. Oleksandr Lysytsia, head of the bone marrow transplantation division at Okhmatdyt children's hospital, said that the new building of the children's hospital is almost 80% out of service. According to him, all utility lines have been destroyed, there is no light and water. The missile completely destroyed the toxicology building and damaged 4 more. 10 surgery units, 5 oncology units, 2 somatic units, an intensive care unit, 2 critical care units, operating suites, radiology and radiotherapy unit, and part of the only oncohematology laboratory in the country were damaged.

Today, I rescued a young man from the streets of Nairobi along Moi Avenue. He approached me and requested that I take him to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. However, he had no travel documents or even a national identification card. After engaging him in a conversation, I realized that what he truly needed was help and specifically, mental health support. I decided to take him to Mathare Mental Hospital, but since he was fixated on going to the airport, I gently told him that I was taking him to Mathare International Airport. Upon arrival at the hospital and after an initial assessment, he was admitted for treatment. We contacted his mother, who at first didn’t want to be associated with him due to the many difficulties he had caused her. But I took time to speak with her, convincing her that her son needed help not rejection. I reminded her that despite all he had done, she shouldn't abandon him to the world to "teach him a lesson." What he needed most was love, care, and a chance at recovery.

It's with a broken heart, I have to break the sad news that our Champ died during the night 😭💔 Champ was one of our very first rescues. Anyone who has been with us from the beginning will know what a superstar he was. We found him in a ditch, in a very poor state and didn't think he had much chance of surviving past a few days, but Champ decided otherwise. Having his hind legs amputated was no obstacle for Champ! He never let that stand in his way of chasing me, trying to nip my bum! 😂 He was full of life and character. Although we are desperately sad that he's no longer with us, we're comforted by the fact that we gave him the best life possible and he really did make the most of it ❤ Rest in peace, Champ. You were loved 🌈 🙏🏻❤🐾❤💔

The hospital sends a dying man out the door with the police saying he is OK to go. 26-year-old Jean-Michael DesKamps was brought to a Milwaukee hospital for a mental health crisis. Despite being in a near-catatonic state—unable to stand, speak, or even hold his head up—hospital staff "medically cleared" him. They told officers his condition was "100% behavioral" and that there was no medical reason for him to be there. In reality Jean-Michael wasn't being "difficult"; he was dying. hospital staff and police forced him into a wheelchair and then into the back of a squad car to be dropped at a shelter. During that short drive, he stopped breathing. An autopsy later revealed the truth: Jean-Michael died from a pulmonary embolism (a blood clot in the lung). This was a treatable medical emergency that was completely ignored because his physical symptoms were dismissed as "mental health issues." His family is now fighting for justice, highlighting a dangerous phenomenon called "diagnostic overshadowing"—where physical illness is ignored in patients with mental health histories. This tragedy was 100% avoidable. If the hospital was more focused on saving lives VS how is he gonna pay, he would still be here.
