Kansai International Airport, Japan Opened in 1994, KIX was an engineering marvel, built as an artificial island. KIX suffers from subsidence, sinking 2-4cm per year. The Kansai terminal is 1.7km long, and was designed by world-famous architect Renzo Piano.

Please! Since it's built over the riverbank, water backflow enter airway #2 resulting in water accumulation. It'll dry quickly once rain intensity decreases
