The launcher was then assigned the targets by the C4I system, and the complete firing sequence was successfully demonstrated to the visiting team. Actual rocket firing was not carried out within the plant premises due to safety considerations.

This has brought the Air Littoral into sharp operational focus. Recent conflicts have underscored that dominance in this zone directly influences the tempo, survivability and outcomes of land battles, necessitating rapid, localised control and response by ground forces. It is in this context that Prachand assumes significance. Agile, precise and optimised to operate in all types of terrains, Prachand provides the Indian Army with a dedicated platform to play a decisive role in the increasingly contested lower airspace. India’s first indigenously designed attack helicopter, it has been specifically built for high-altitude warfare and can operate effectively in rarefied conditions exceeding 6,000 metres. Big push to Self-reliance in Unmanned Aerial Systems Hon’able PM on his visit to Nagpur on 30 Mar 2025, made his last halt of the day at Solar Defence & Aerospace Ltd (SDAL) Nagpur. Shri Satyanarayan Nuwal, Chairman and Mr Raghav Nuwal welcomed the Hon’able PM at SDAL Helipad. From there he was escorted to Technical Area where Hon’ble PM inaugurated Loiter Munition Test Range. Spread over 1080 acres this test range has a dedicated Command & Control Centre, UAV Take off Area, Endurance and Communication Range check facility, Parachute Recovery Area, Static & Moving Target Engagement, Target Hit and CEP Measurement, Warhead Lethality Test facility, and many more. After the inauguration the PM visited the product gallery wherein SDAL showcased its products like Pinaka Rocket System, Air-bombs, Mines, Grenade, Military Explosives, ATGM, Nagastra 1 & 2 Loiter Munitions, and many more. Thereafter, the PM was then escorted by the Chairman to the newly constructed Air strip where he was received by Mr. Manish Nuwal, MD & CEO, SDAL. Key highlights of displayed systems are as follows: - • Loitering Munitions: Many Indian industries and start-ups have entered drone related technologies and systems mostly focused on surveillance and logistics applications. Use of drones and UAVs for combat applications requires critical competency and infrastructure. Keeping in view the futuristic requirements of this emerging technology, SIDAL has taken the initiative to develop Nagastra series of Loiter Munitions of ranges from 15 km to more than 100 km and explosive payload carrying capability from 1 kg to 10 kg. Nagastra 3 is a Vehicle Launched Loiter Munition System of endurance 3 hours, range 100 km and can carry 8.5 kg warhead. It is being developed under Make 2 project from Arty of Indian Army. • Bhargavastra is an indigenously designed and developed Counter Drone System meant for quick interception of drones for an assured hard kill using tiny, guided missiles with swarm engagement capability. This solution offers mobile protection against drone attacks with near simultaneous engagement of multiple drones. With a long range of detection (upto 6 km) and long range of neutralization (upto 2.5 km), it ensures safety of vulnerable assets/battlefield formations. • SDAL has taken an initiative to address the global menace of land mines detection and disposal. As per some estimates there are more than 11 million buried mines world over which remain uncleared and are causing casualties or maiming of both soldiers and civilians in peace time. Bhaumastra, a drone-based system under development by SDAL, would be the first of its kind in any developed nation to provide a drone-based solution to this global problem. What people don't appreciate is that what's maintained the international system and the US position in that system are the middle powers as principal stakeholders, and that's because they perceive the current system as the best one for them. If their perception of America's role and its intentions changes, then the U.S. no longer has a great argument for why these middle powers should support them on different issues. America then becomes just another powerful state; the most powerful state, but one that is both pursuing interests and is using its power more coercively, which you've seen at least in the last month. And so very quickly, we will begin to generate antibodies in the system and coalitions against us on different issues. And we will quickly discover that the reason why the system has endured, why unipolarity has endured and why America's position has endured, is not because we have so many carrier strike groups; it's not because of military power. It's because most countries, although they publicly don't like to admit it, are stakeholders in the system and they see it as the best system for them compared to a bipolar or a multipolar world order. That's the reality. Usually when they say multi polar world order, what they mean is one that's more multilateral with greater room, greater opportunities for smaller states and middle powers. And that's fair. But what they don't mean is that they're all staying up at night and saying, you know, we wish that Saudi Arabia, Russia, maybe Iran and Turkey had a lot more power than they do right now. Because if you ask who would be the powers in the multipolar world system, it's usually not the countries that people want. And so, this kind of will be my closing argument that I think some folks in the U. S. are very short sighted and misunderstand the genuine sources of U. S. power and our position and what keeps it in the international order and what maintains it. And if you pull that thread, you will quickly start unraveling something and you will have an epiphany afterwards on what the order is really based on. — Michael Kofman

Last night, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office DFR (Drone as First Responder) pilots used RapidSOS live 911 monitoring to launch one of our unmanned aerial vehicles, commonly known as a drone, in response to a report of a suspicious person in the backyard of a residence in Sparks. The drone was airborne and on scene within three minutes of the call being broadcast to patrol deputies. Once overhead, DFR pilots began canvassing the area and relaying real-time information to responding deputies. Using thermal imaging in low-light conditions, the drone successfully located the suspect in the backyard of a nearby residence on Cromwell Place. Pilots continued to provide live updates on the suspect’s location and behavior, allowing deputies to safely detain the individual without incident. Further investigation revealed the suspect, identified as Ryan Davis, 38, had forcibly entered a residence and moved through multiple neighboring backyards prior to being located. Davis was arrested and transported to the Washoe County Detention Facility, where he was booked on a felony charge of home invasion and an additional charge of trespassing. This incident highlights the outstanding coordination between patrol deputies and our DFR pilots, demonstrating how advanced aerial technology is not used for routine surveillance or to monitor lawful activity. DFRs are deployed for specific, time-limited public safety purposes—their use allows deputies to gain real-time situational awareness before making contact, often reducing the need for force and lowering risk to both the public and responding officers. This technology helps deputies make informed decisions, slow situations down, and choose safer resolutions whenever possible. At its core, this program is about saving time, saving lives, and improving outcomes—for victims, for our community members, and for our deputies. Inaugurated the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) Dial 112 at the TGICCC. This AI-based ERSS seamlessly connects the Police, Fire, Medical, HYDRAA, Municipal, Electricity, Highway authorities and disaster response agencies, enabling faster and better coordinated emergency response. Citizens no longer need to remember multiple helpline numbers. A call to 112 is analysed by the AI system, which transcribes the conversation, intelligently routes the call, prepares a gist, identifies the concerned department and the caller's location, enabling the human operator to quickly dispatch the right resources within minutes. Special desks have been established for senior citizens, women and children in distress and NRIs seeking assistance for their families and friends in Telangana. The system also features advanced dashboards, data analytics, and the capacity to handle over 900 calls concurrently. For the first time in the country, we have introduced drones as first responders to provide instant aerial assessment during major emergencies, helping field teams respond more effectively. Having been associated with this project from its inception, it is professionally very satisfying to see it go live. When I was CP-Hyderabad, we allocated the budget to shift the Dial 100 Operations Centre from Kompally, which handled only Dial 100 and Dial 108 calls, to the TGICCC and integrate other emergency services, laying the foundation for what it has become today. We faced several operational and administrative challenges along the way and I have been following up throughout. Finally, we could launch it today through the collective efforts of many officers and other stakeholders. Drone based 112 services, along with drone-based traffic and crowd management, will be launched by Telangana Police in the near future.
