The school is 97% empty and it spends $93,000 per year per student - The staff-to-student ratio is one-to-one, but there's not a single student that can read - There are over 100 public schools in the state of Illinois that reportedly have zero students proficient in reading or math - There are 20 public schools in Chicago that are basically empty “That's not an exaggeration. Zero students are proficient in reading from that school. Just because the government spends money doesn't mean they spend it efficiently or Well, and once it's use it or lose it, they'll use it. They will spend regardless. They know it's wasted money. They just keep spending and spending frivolously and they never fix any of the problems and they just keep proliferating. Only 1 out of every 4 Chicago Public Schools students can read at grade level, and only 17% are proficient in math. Since 2019, CPS’s budget has grown by more than 57% to over $9 billion, yet there has been no significant improvement in test scores. Just 21% of students in Chicago can read and do math at an eighth-grade proficiency level. At Douglas Academy High School, which has the capacity for more than 900 students, only 34 were enrolled in 2024. The school spent $68,091 per student, 3x the average, yet failed to produce a single student proficient in either math or English at grade level.

The numbers are mind-blowing. 🔴 Douglass was originally built for 888 students in the Austin neighborhood, where Johnson lives. 🔴 Just 35 students attend Douglass today, meaning the school is 96% empty. Of those 35 students, 64% were chronically absent last year. 🔴 The new CPS budget expands Douglass staff from 23 to 32 employees (1.09 students per employee). 🔴 The school already spends more than $68,000 per student per year (excluding capital outlay and debt service). Woke Teachers in her high school call her “hateful.” We call her “hero.” The way some adult employees of the New Richmond School District are treating Ella Frei is disgraceful. She is a student. They are the adults. Ella has shown more maturity, more calm, and more courage than the teachers and school officials who have mocked, dismissed, and targeted her for speaking the truth. Calling a teenage girl a “hater” because she stands for privacy and common sense is not leadership. It is bullying.
