Only 1 out of every 4 Chicago Public Schools students can read at grade level, and only 17% are proficient in math. Since 2019, CPS’s budget has grown by more than 57% to over $9 billion, yet there has been no significant improvement in test scores. Just 21% of students in Chicago can read and do math at an eighth-grade proficiency level. At Douglas Academy High School, which has the capacity for more than 900 students, only 34 were enrolled in 2024. The school spent $68,091 per student, 3x the average, yet failed to produce a single student proficient in either math or English at grade level.

The numbers are mind-blowing. 🔴 Douglass was originally built for 888 students in the Austin neighborhood, where Johnson lives. 🔴 Just 35 students attend Douglass today, meaning the school is 96% empty. Of those 35 students, 64% were chronically absent last year. 🔴 The new CPS budget expands Douglass staff from 23 to 32 employees (1.09 students per employee). 🔴 The school already spends more than $68,000 per student per year (excluding capital outlay and debt service). That’s enough money to send every Douglass student to one of the most elite private high schools in the country while saving extra money for college tuition. 🔴 Student achievement data has been redacted for Douglass, most likely due to too few student records. Why is there a push to close Chicago Public Schools on May 1? Our kids need more time in the classroom, not less, yet Chicago parents are being asked for their kids to lose another day of school on May 1st for a political Day of Action. Parents and kids rely on schools for learning and consistency. Closing schools will send parents scrambling for babysitters or losing wages to stay home to care for their kids. For some kids, schools are where they get their meals and are the safest place they’ll be that day. As a CPS mom, I have skin in the game and expect my son to be in school where he belongs on May 1st. Keep Chicago’s students in the classroom, parents at work, and focus on the city’s test scores, not its politics. #chicago

Stafford School Board Furry Gaymers Against Trump demand sexual and gender identity be respected! continuing on with highlighting policy 2420-p in STAFFORD COUNTY SCHOOLS and how it states that no student can have their gender or sexual identity ignored, and also that the students with whatever gender/sexual identity can have equal access to programs, activities, services or benefits (this includes bathrooms) so yes, right now, legally according to Stafford's own policy manual - it states that boys can use girls bathrooms, locker rooms, and other spaces. if you talk to a teacher (off record of course, if they answer this on record they will be fired) - that when a teacher sees a boy going in a girls bathroom, they cannot even ask the student anything. they cannot stop them or impede them in any way, or they will get fired. the superintendent and board members will try to hide behind legalese and say 'that isnt happening' in stafford schools, yet many parents are posting online and confirming that it is happening in the schools. Furthermore, to really highlight the absurdity of this policy, there are FURRIES and TRANIMALS (furries are just trans animals, i call them tranimals) in the classrooms in ALL levels of schools in stafford (including elementary). since the policy says you cannot discriminate, there are students that are meowing, barking, hissing, even attempting to bite at other students, and the teachers are not allowed to do anything. Many school board members are ON RECORD saying they 'do not care what a student wears as long as they are in school'. which reinforces my previous point - that schools will lose funding if students are not in school. they only care about the money, not the quality of education your child is getting. So I dressed up as a FURRY TRANIMAL to highlight how hypocritical these people are. within 2 SECONDS of my speech, you can hear the board chair, Maureen Siegmund, saying that i had to act like a human otherwise i had to leave (because i was crawling on all 4's). why can she and teachers NOT say that SAME EXACT SENTENCE TO STUDENTS IN THE SCHOOLS??? the fact that the other school board member, Dr. Elizabeth Warner, was rolling her eyes when i asked for kitty litter boxes in bathrooms to respect the FURRY TRANIMAL gender and sexual identities, shows what a hypocrite she is. SHE IS THE SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER THAT HELPED WRITE A BRIEF BY AN LGBTQ+ ADVOCACY GROUP (Equality Virginia) TO MAKE SURE A TEACHER THAT USED THE "WRONG PRONOUNS" WOULD NOT GET HIS JOB BACK. how can she not respect MY sexual/gender identity as a FURRY TRANIMAL and not respect my ME-OW pronouns? then you have the superintendent, Daniel W Smith, Ed.D that makes public statements pretending like this isnt happening in stafford schools, when it is and parents are constantly making complaints about this. I have called out stafford and told them that they are going to cost themselves about $40 million in federal funding for not complying with trumps executive order to respect title IX. they do not care. they will pay their attorneys 300 to 500 an hour to make up policy to allow them to keep this current iteration of 2420-p on 8-26 when i went to the school board meeting, they voted to NOT CHANGE anything in 2420-p. they reviewed the policy (behind closed doors) and decided its perfectly fine (even though it goes against trumps executive order) call out these people. they are all hypocrites and frauds.

Dr. Njoki Fernandes sat on a television studio and told Kenyans that there is a private school for every pocket and that parents should stop pushing their children into congested public schools. It is the kind of statement that can only come from someone who has never had to choose between school fees and food. Nobody takes their child to a public school because they prefer it. They take them there because it is what they can afford. The parent in Kibera, the farmer in Turkana, the bodaboda rider in Eldoret did not sit down and weigh private school options against public ones. They had one option and they took it. Telling them to consider private schools is not advice. It is an insult dressed in concern. The real question that should have been asked on that television programme is this. Why are public schools congested in the first place? Why are dormitories unsafe? Why are there not enough teachers, enough classrooms, enough fire extinguishers?
