Chicago has the second-largest public transit system in the United States. That's not a small feat. 8 train lines. Over 120 bus routes. Millions of Chicagoans moving across this city every single day. A system like that - built right - is a source of pride. It connects workers... show more

My Public Transit Plan is designed to transform our public transit system, address our fiscal deficit, improve public safety, and restore confidence in City Hall. I will take immediate steps to advance this plan on Day One. As Mayor of Chicago, I will move safe, clean and reliable public transit from the Wish List to the To-Do List. #chicago

Investing in our transit system is a key focus of mine this term. While this is a challenging year for the city, we are steadfast in our commitment to keep transit safe, improve service, and support seniors and low-income residents who rely on transit to navigate the city.

Chicago has a public school that's 97% empty. Not a single child is proficient in reading. They spend more than $90,000 per student per year. The government school system has become more of a jobs program for adults than an education initiative for kids.

🚨CHICAGO… the DEMOCRATS mask just slipped. For months the political class kept repeating the same line… “Crime is down.” “Chicago is safe.” “Everything is under control.” But then something happened. The numbers leaked. And when the numbers leaked… the truth came with them. While ordinary Chicago families are locking their doors earlier… avoiding public transit after dark… and watching neighborhoods they grew up in deteriorate… Mayor Brandon Johnson is protected by a 150-officer police detail costing taxpayers $22.5 million a year. Let that sink in. One hundred and fifty officers… assigned not to neighborhoods… not to schools… not to the streets where people are getting robbed and carjacked… But to one man. The same man telling the public Chicago is safe. If the city is so safe… Why does the mayor need a small army to move around it? This is what happens when leaks expose reality. The narrative collapses. The talking points stop working. And suddenly the contrast becomes impossible to ignore. 416 murders in 2025. Thousands of robberies. Thousands of assaults. And yet the mayor moves through the city behind the largest personal security bubble Chicago taxpayers have ever funded. The truth didn’t come from a press conference. It didn’t come from City Hall. It leaked. And once it leaked… the mask slipped. Watch this video carefully. Every number is documented. Every point is verifiable. And every Chicago resident deserves to ask the same question: If the city is safe… why does the mayor need an army? Watch. Share. Decide for yourself. #SilentMajoritySpeaks #AStoneGroove

BREAKING: Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson says "the entire country" is "now at stake" because of illegal immigration. Gee, if only there was a group of people saying this for years on end. In a desperate plea for funding from the federal government, Johnson said that "it won’t just be the city of Chicago that won’t be able to maintain this mission. It’s the entire country that is now at stake." "We have roughly 15,000 people living in shelters, temporary shelters, here in Chicago... 27 shelters total. And 4,500 children in our Chicago public schools system, providing health care." What happened to being a welcoming Sanctuary City?

Voters Deserve Leaders Focused on One Job, Not Two Political Campaigns CHICAGO, IL — Chicago mayoral candidate John Kelly would like to welcome Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias to the mayor’s race. However, he is asking Giannoulias to explain to Chicagoans his highly unusual and self interested decision to seek two public offices at the same time. Today Giannoulias announced his campaign for Mayor for Chicago in the February 2027 election, without suspending his reelection campaign for Illinois Secretary of State on the November 2026 ballot. Even with Illinois history of corruption and self dealing, few can remember a candidate so brazen to run for state wide office at the same time they run for Mayor. "Running for mayor of the country’s third largest city, one confronting a number of crises demands full attention.” Kelly said. “Public office is a full-time responsibility, not a stepping stone. Chicagoans don't feel safe, their taxes keep rising while the storefronts sit empty. The problems are too real for more political shenanigans and insider deals. Voters deserve candidates who are focused on one job and one mission—not balancing multiple political ambitions.” Kelly added. Kelly said the mayor's office requires complete dedication and believes candidates should clearly demonstrate that their priority is serving the people of Chicago. "If you're asking Chicagoans to trust you with the future of this city, they should know that your full attention is on earning that trust and leading from day one," Kelly said. "Running for another office while holding statewide office and seeking re-election to that very same office naturally raises questions about priorities, focus, and commitment. Alexi needs to come clean with the voters" As a first time candidate for public office, Kelly said that his campaign will focus on how to tackle the tough job of Chicago mayor and reverse the decline of the city. "I entered this race because Chicago needs a change in direction, not more of the same. Alexi must answer the question instead of giving all Chicagoans more of the same. It's time we demand better from our politicians" Kelly said. "My commitment is to the people of Chicago, and that's where my attention will remain." Kelly reiterated that his campaign will continue to focus on issues important to Chicago families, including safe neighborhoods, reliable transit, stable property taxes and a city that works for everyone. "Chicago doesn't need another political calculation," Kelly concluded. "It needs leadership that is focused on making this city safe, reliable, and accountable.”

Thanks to funding from congestion pricing, today we’re expanding service on more than a dozen bus routes! From Co-Op City to Staten Island, we’re building a transit system that meets the needs of all New Yorkers.

The horrific system of forced organ harvesting in China reveals how the CCP views human life. In this system, prisoners of conscience have been used as a source of organs. This reflects a structure where human life only has value if it serves the Party. That same mindset does not stop at China’s borders. It extends outward, including toward the United States. In my new book, “Killed to Order,” I explain how this system connects to a much broader strategy. Get your copy now:🧵

Brandon Johnson: "He has defunded our education system. He has defunded our transportation system. He is firing black women across this country. He's defunding our healthcare system. This president is absolutely out of control. If there was ever a time for working people to unite in this country, now is that time. The city of Chicago is going to stand firm in protecting humanity and in protecting and defending our democracy."

JUST IN: Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson says the *right* wants a “rematch” of the Civil War because ICE is deporting illegal immigrants. “A couple of years ago, I said very candidly that the right wing in this country wants a rematch of the Civil War.” “I want that to sit in right now because The President of the United States of America has declared war on the people of Chicago and people across America.”

Trump on Chicago: "The mayor is incompetent and the governor is A big fat slob" "We could make Chicago a safe city in a period of four weeks. In a period of eight weeks, nine weeks, 10 weeks, it would be totally safe. And the people of Chicago want us to go there. And if you look at the crime that's taken place in Chicago in the last two weeks, just take a look. It's on the front page of every newspaper. It's out of control. The mayor is incompetent and the governor is A big fat slob."

Today I spoke with Emmanuel Castrejon, an Angeleno who depends on the bus to get to work every day. I saw firsthand some of what’s not working about our bus system. From the long wait times, to the inconsistent schedules, unreliable public transit is making LA less livable for all of us. It doesn’t have to be like this. I'm focused on building a system that people can actually count on, where buses show up more often, move faster, and get you where you need to go on time. Public transit should make our lives easier, not harder.
