I find it disturbing, but not surprising, that Trump would try to withhold funding from the Red Line extension project, which would bring much needed connectivity and opportunity to the far South Side of Chicago, as a form of political retribution.

This week we headed to Springfield because Illinois has the resources to fully fund public education — but Governor Pritzker and the Democratic supermajority still have to decide whose side they’re on. Are they on the side of billionaires and corporate tax breaks? Or are they with students, educators, and working families? We showed up to back HB 5409 and SB 3701, which ends proration, and demand the state finally meet its own funding promises. There are more educators than billionaires. And we’re organizing like it.

Twice Pritzker mentioned he was on the "South Side," and once mentioned he was on the "South Lakefront Trail." We get it, JB Pritzker, you want us to believe you are on the South Side. You are on the lake at the 41st Street Bridge. And you aren't on the "South Side," governor. For those who are familiar with Chicago, the lakefront is not where pedestrians have a Glock shoved in their face.
