🚨 Nonverbal 5-year-old found dead in the water. Parents arrested for leaving her unsupervised. This is the mother during the search. SAYLOR HAYES was autistic and known to wander toward water. She disappeared from a Pawleys Island rental Sunday. She was found Monday in the waterway next to the house. JOHN HERB HAYES III, 70, and Geordyn, 31, were later arrested in Tennessee. Charge: unlawfully placing a child at risk / willfully abandoning a child. Not murder. Autopsy is Friday. Warrants say they took her tracking device off before they left Virginia. They knew she wasn’t wearing it. They still told searchers to look for the tracker instead of treating the water as the first place to check. A child who can’t speak was left near water without the one thing meant to find her.

Another child is dead. Another mother is in court. Prosecutors say Illinois mom Corie Walsh was heavily invested in the Lindsay Clancy trial and texting friends about it hours before her 2-year-old son Barrett was found dead. She allegedly told police the child was “the devil.” Her lawyers say it was a psychotic episode. The Clancy case just ended in a mistrial. The child is the victim. Not the adult who killed him. Mental illness is NOT a justification for murder.
