🇨🇳 China has rolled out a firefighting drone swarm called Zhuque. It comes with 2 scout drones and 10 firefighting drones. The scout drones find the fire and locate the hotspots. The firefighting drones then fly in and drop fire-extinguishing bombs right where they're needed. The idea is simple: fight fires faster and reach places that are too dangerous for crews on the ground. Nice to see drones dropping a different kind of payload for a change.

India has abundant bauxite reserves (the primary ore of aluminium). In 2010, the Indian company Vedanta Resources was developing a large aluminium refinery project in the Niyamgiri region of Odisha. At that time, China was the world’s largest aluminium producer, and this project had the potential to significantly strengthen India’s position in global competition. However, events unfolded in a way similar to what is being observed today in Nicobar. Rahul Gandhi visited the site and opposed the project, citing concerns related to tribal rights. Since the Indian National Congress was in power at the time, the project was eventually halted. As a result, India lost a strategic opportunity to compete more aggressively with China in the aluminium sector. Aluminium is a critical material for defence systems and power infrastructure.

Well, you cannot attach the grid anymore. The Utah project contemplates bringing new power to Utah. All of the power will be created from nat gas pipeline that runs through there, and will give back to the community. It will generate enough power that some percentage of it will go back to the grid. If you want China to overtake our ability to develop cutting edge technology, you stop data centers. So that's the cause and effect of it all. If you want China to lead, take over our, let's call it democracy, our free speech, and the way we live with technology, just stop building data centers. It's that simple.

BlackRock CEO Larry Fink says the biggest job boom coming to America has nothing to do with AI software or Wall Street, it's in infrastructure. Specifically, the construction, power grids, and data centers. That is where he believes the massive job growth is coming from. And his warning is that we are not ready for it. Companies are committing hundreds of billions to build out AI infrastructure across the US, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, and Alphabet are projected to spend $650 billion on it this year alone. But that buildout requires physical workers. Electricians, pipefitters, construction crews, grid engineers. Fink told the Trump administration directly, the US doesn't have enough skilled workers to meet the demand these projects will create. Microsoft's Brad Smith called the skilled labor shortage the "single biggest challenge for data center expansion in the U.S." In some regions, Microsoft had to relocate workers or ask them to commute 75 miles just to fill critical roles. The electrical work alone accounts for 45–70% of total data center construction costs. Over 200,000 electricians are expected to retire in the next decade. The pipeline to replace them doesn't exist at the scale needed. Energy resilience is the other piece Fink flagged. Data centers don't just need to be built, they need consistent, reliable power. The US grid hasn't been meaningfully expanded in decades. China, by contrast, generates roughly twice the electricity the US does and is actively building more. Fink's point is direct because if the US doesn't win the buildout of its physical infrastructure, China will. That is why BlackRock just committed $100 million to fund training programs for 50,000 skilled trade workers over the next five years. The largest asset manager in the world is putting money into electricians and plumbers because it sees the bottleneck clearly.

That might sound like propaganda to some people, but if you actually do visit these small villages, you’ll see how technology and infrastructure are changing people’s lives and providing them a higher quality of life for the future I’m so blessed to have the opportunity to visit, explore and connect with China every year. This is one of the most fascinating countries in the world and I love sharing my travels and journeys through the Middle Kingdom 🇨🇳

Wow, this is exceedingly rare. The immense Noam Chomsky was given a whole 8 minutes on Piers Morgan to explain how the US is provoking China into war, and he does a brilliant job at it. An absolute must-watch if you want to understand what's happening. He explains how the US is 1) "abandoning the One-China policy" that has "held the peace in the region for 50 years", 2) increasingly "encircling China with a ring of sentinel states armed with advanced precision weapons aimed at China" and 3) waging "a war to prevent China from developing", all the while gaslighting the world into believing it's China that's changing the status quo.
