🇺🇸🇨🇳 China may already have its answer to U.S. sanctions Washington’s biggest constraint on sanctioning Beijing is actually rare earths. “You sanction us. This is what you’re going to see happen on a 10x level.” The U.S. is making progress mining rare earths, but Brandon says the critical bottleneck... show more

Every single weapon system the U.S. expends in the Middle East is one less deterrent available to stop a Chinese move on Taiwan. 🇺🇸🇮🇷 Economic "D-Day" could backfire on Washington The Iran sanctions campaign faces a basic problem: China can circumvent it, but forcing Beijing to fully comply would mean inflicting enormous damage on the U.S. economy too. Sanctions take months to implement, enforce and evade. Washington is therefore left with an ugly choice: accept that China will work around the restrictions, or escalate against Beijing and risk turning an Iran policy into a much larger economic crisis. 🇺🇸🇨🇳 TRUMP HOLDS “HIGH CARDS” IN NEW CHINA TRADE STANDOFF As tensions rise between Washington and Beijing, Trump’s team is arguing that America has the upper hand in any trade showdown. The U.S. ran a $295.5B trade deficit with China last year, but they note that actually gives America leverage, since China relies more than ever on U.S. markets. While China could withhold rare earths and pharmaceuticals, U.S. officials say America could hit back harder, from plastics to Boeing parts and services, potentially grounding half of China’s fleet. The message: Beijing may bluster, but Trump’s White House thinks it’s holding the winning hand. Source: Fox News

China has a dangerous monopoly over America’s pharmaceuticals and rare earth supply chain. Gordon Chang says President Trump is moving at “Trump speed” to break that dependence. “92% of the world’s processing of rare earths occurs in China.” “China has 100% monopoly on about 800-850 pharmaceuticals that Americans use.” “That’s an astounding chokehold.” “Trump is moving at Trump speed to reduce America’s reliance on rare earths.” “We’re making some headway on pharmaceuticals as well.” “Trump has a foreign policy that really is, I think, driving Beijing, to the point where they just don't know what to do.” @GordanGChang

🇨🇳🇺🇸 While everyone assumed the West would come out ahead due to China's heavy dependence on Middle East oil, the tables have completely turned. Brandon Weichert reveals that the U.S. is now over a barrel and highly exposed to disruptions, while Beijing remains completely unfazed. He says China successfully proved its renewable sector's robustness by voluntarily removing itself from the global market for two months to rely entirely on its strategic reserves. Brandon Weichert

🎥 Dr.Victor Gao on BBC: “China will not allow its rare earths to be used in weapons that threaten China.” This is not “weaponizing trade.” It’s reciprocity. 🧠The U.S. bans AI chips & tools exports to China, citing military concerns. Why should China allow rare earths to power American missiles? China’s rare earths are vital to the global tech economy. But if the U.S. gets to draw red lines, so can China. You can’t demand access to Chinese materials while cutting off China’s access to yours. That’s not free trade. That’s entitlement.

🇺🇸🇮🇷🇨🇳 The Iran conflict may have just accelerated the world Washington feared most. Brandon Weichert argues the war has been a strategic disaster for the U.S., with no clear path to victory and only one possible upside: forcing America to finally leave the Middle East militarily and focus on its own hemisphere. “At every level, this conflict with Iran in the Middle East has been a strategic disaster for the U.S. There is no win here.” He warns the real winner is China, because the crisis is helping birth a post-American, multipolar world where the U.S. remains powerful but no longer sits alone at the top. He frames the future as China-oriented, not necessarily China-run: a global order where countries orbit Beijing’s economic and political gravity without China having to become the world’s policeman. The U.S. burned power trying to manage the Middle East. China may inherit the influence without firing a shot. Brandon Weichert

🇺🇸🇮🇷 Iran sanctions could become Trump's political trap Washington’s threat to sanction China over Iran is less a serious strategy than political theater, especially with the U.S. economy already under pressure. The bigger danger is timing. If the Iran war drags on while inflation and household finances remain weak, the administration could face the same question that helped define Reagan’s 1980 campaign: Are Americans actually better off than they were before? If the answer is no, escalating an economic war with China is a remarkably expensive way to discover the electorate has noticed. Brandon Weichert

🇺🇸🇨🇳 U.S. TO DITCH CHINA'S RARE EARTHS BY 2028 America may be just 3 years away from cutting China out of its rare earth supply chain entirely. MP Materials is scaling up fast, with a massive expansion at its Independence site and a new "10x" facility set to come online soon. CEO Litinsky says the U.S. will be able to meet all domestic demand, dropping reliance on China from 70% to zero by 2028. Source: Fox News, Eric Daugherty, MP Materials

🇨🇳🇺🇸 Did the U.S. government blindly hand over its critical industrial security to its biggest global adversary? Brandon Weichert points out that a strategic helium reserve built since the 1920s was sold during the Biden administration to a company with significant ties to the Chinese Communist Party. He notes that Beijing has since heavily drained this crucial supply for semiconductor production, highlighting how Washington allegedly failed to consider long-term national security while China planned steps ahead. Now what? You’re going to crash the dollar? I thought you controlled the strait? What happened?

🚨🇺🇸🇨🇳 China is officially weaponizing its legal system against Washington. For the first time, Beijing has activated "blocking rules" to nullify U.S. sanctions, leaving global banks trapped between two contradictory legal worlds. Jeffrey Currie argues that while financial traders are ignoring the risk, commodity experts see this as the moment China goes on the offensive to protect its "colonies" in Iran and Russia. "This is part of a bigger dedollarization story that hasn't ran its course."

🇺🇸 Brandon Weichert warns that a ceasefire or deal with Iran may only be a pause, not the end of the crisis. While reports suggest the U.S. has heavily depleted its stockpile of long-range precision weapons, Brandon says he remains concerned by suggestions that Washington could revisit military action within months if negotiations falter. His concern is that even a partial replenishment of U.S. munitions could convince the White House that military options are back on the table. "They assume Trump is going to restart hostilities, quote, soon." Brandon Weichert

Today, China dominates rare-earth mining and processing. But that wasn’t always the case. Solcoa’s Hooman explains how the West lost its rare-earth mojo: "So contrary to popular belief, we do mine in the West. We have an enormous rare earth mine in Australia. There’s one in California." “The actual raw feedstock is not rare." “The bottleneck is what you do after it. It’s the processing. That is something that we’re completely unable to do in the West." “We actually invented these processes in America." "The technologies used to make rare earths in China today are American technologies from the Manhattan Project.” “We built this technology and these systems, and then we shipped it to China. China dominated. They matured it. They took over.” Now his company is trying to bring that capability back to the U.S. with a process built for today’s economics. “If we were just copying that same technology stack again, it was impossible. The economics don’t close.”
