PepsiCo currently has 41 self-driving trucks on roads in Arizona, Arkansas and Texas. Per WSJ, these converted Isuzu Motor trucks are equipped with tech from self-driving startup Gatik (laser, LIDAR, cameras). Each truck has 3 iPad screens and still keeps a steering wheel (future ones may get rid of it but the AC in cabin will stay to cool system). They transport goods on direct routes from PepsiCo warehouses to bottling plants, Walmart, Dollar General and other retailers (99% arrival performance so far). Historically, PepsiCo drivers have also been sales rep. These drivers have been free’d up time wise to help customers. On Saturday evening a CAT Deputy who also happens be a Motor Deputy stopped this moped with no plates driving through the snow. The driver works in West Omaha and lives in near Carter Lake. Deputies warned him of the dangers driving his moped on snow packed roads and he agreed but added the moped is his only mode of transportation to work. The driver was given a warning for no proof of ownership and sent on his way home. We all want to make it to work and provide for our families, and it’s hard not to feel for someone who has no other way to get there. While it's not illegal, a two wheeled vehicle on snow-packed roads is very dangerous.

As the suspect tried to get back on the bike, the officers carefully drove their vehicle onto the bike’s back wheel and detained the rider. A 19-year-old man from Old Swan was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, drug driving, failing to stop, driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence and using a motor vehicle without third party insurance. He has been released under investigation.
