When I traveled back to Beijing very recently, I did notice a few things. First the sun and blue sky were clearly visible. I was told that since electric cars became popular, the sky is now clear. I found that hard to believe for obvious reasons. Second the streets and shopping centers like Xidan were not packed, even on the weekends. Places like Joy City were moderately populated. Finally, walking the streets you could see the number of electric motor bikes were down. Still a lot, but not like before. I don’t think it’s recession based for there to be fewer people in the streets. Even the unemployed in China need to be active so I don’t think it is that. Do I believe the numbers, pre-COVID. 800m makes sense. Post-COVID, I don’t. It’s almost impossible to process 365000 deaths an hour for three years. There are over 2000 crematoriums in China. Cremation process takes 2-3 hours. Where are all the dead bodies stacked up? This would mean Mr. Xi killed more people in three years than the Khan’s did in 162 years. Impossible…. unless….
