What was once a prosperous and thriving area is now visibly falling apart. Decay is everywhere you look. The Fairfield shopping centre today resembles a third world ghetto. Faded, peeling signs, cracked and crumbling paintwork, layers of dirt and grime, people sleeping rough in bus shelters — even the “For Lease” signs on empty, abandoned shopfronts are literally falling down. Chris Bowen should be ashamed that he has failed to clean up the grime and maintain basic pride to the community he is supposed to represent.

After each question is asked, a City Hall press aide steps in to reprimand reporters, insisting "on topic" questions be asked.
