Chris Finch talked after the game about the Wolves' defensive issues and issues with competitiveness tonight. When asked how to draw that out of the team, Finch said... "Ask them. It's on them. They gotta come and put the work in. It can't be a sometimes thing."

When Jon Krawczynski asked Chris Finch what he wanted to see out of the offense tonight, Finch gave a long lost of things that were not there for the Wolves tonight.

Chris Finch on the Warriors in Game 1: “They do a lot of fouling, holding, shoving, pushing and tackling Rudy [Gobert].” Finch said the Wolves have submitted clips to the league office to review the officiating and what was missed.

Jamal Murray's 16 FTA was a hot topic in post-game pressers after G1 in Denver. Chris Finch referred to them as a "head-scratcher" when asked about what the Wolves needed to do defensively. Here are all of the fouls the Wolves committed on Murray that led to those free throws.

Chris Finch on the Wolves' offensive struggles tonight and inability to close the game when they had a double-digit lead. "Yeah, we struggled to make shots. But then we got up 10 and then we didn't want to put the work in on offense at that point in time."

Anthony Edwards said Chris Finch got into the team at halftime and after the game. Ant said, "yeah, he wasn't happy about this win at all". Asked Edwards about the Wolves' pattern of needing Finch to get into them for the energy and effort to be there against lesser opponents. "Nights like this, it's super hard to find the, not the why, but the energy to put behind it on every play... [Finch] not satisfied with that, and we shouldn't be either. He said somethin like, I'm not gonna let up on y'all. If we bullshit on games like this, I'm gonna be on y'all ass until y'all stop bullshitting. And I told [Jaden McDaniels], he 100% right. Because we coulda played the first 24 minutes hard as shit and been up 30 points and, who knows, maybe not played the 2nd half. And I said, maybe we can shut his ass up that way, if we just come out and play the way he want us to play."

Chris Finch when asked if it feels like the team's spirit is down right now. "For sure. That's what we just talked about. It feels like we're a million miles away from the team that we can be and that we are, and we gotta get that back with our connectiveness and our spirit. And we gotta have some guys just play better."

“[Wolves players] kept telling me it would be different when we get [to the playoffs]. Game 1 wasn’t any different, so we jumped their ass. They lied to us. And they responded.” - Chris Finch on the Wolves’ regular season attitude + playoff performance

Asked Chris Finch about how the Wolves' pick and roll game will evolve now that they have LaMelo Ball and how he and his staff used Ball's film from Charlotte when planning how to incorporate him. "Was just looking today, (Charlotte) led the league in pick and rolls run. We feel that the LaMelo-Rudy pick and roll could have the potential to be one of the hardest things in the league to guard. So we need to lean into that."

Take a person with Alzheimer's and ask them to draw a clock and they can't do it. Similarly ask them to tie their shoe laces and they really struggle. Put them in ketosis and they can draw the clock and tie their shoe laces. ^ paraphrased from Dr Bikman in the video. This is huge and should be front page news.

Chris Finch said after Game 5 that Terrence Shannon Jr.'s minutes were limited in Game 5 due to gameplan mistakes. Finch was asked at practice today how he goes about helping Shannon clean that up. "I don't clean that up. He cleans it up. It starts with gotta be ready, he's gotta be engaged, he's gotta be fully committed to that side of the ball... The only way I can clean him up is to sit him on the bench, right? That's the only way I can clean it up. He knows what we need from him right now. So he's gotta be ready, and he's gotta be ready to execute defensively. There's no reason that he shouldn't be a good defender with his body type, with his athleticism, and he's a pretty smart player."

JJ Redick joked in his pregame media about how Chris Finch told him he was taking too many midrange shots when Finch was a coach of Redick's in New Orleans -- despite Redick telling Finch he had a "top 5 midrange efficiency for 8 seasons in a row". I asked Finch about that and, more broadly, about coaching shot selection. (His answer starts out as a joke, but I thought also had some good nuggets in there about teaching shot selection -- referencing the value of the midrange showing up with Ant's game-sealing shot in Portland on Wednesday.)

Chris Finch: "It's a joke that he wasn't a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year. I thought it was incredibly disrespectful. It's just laughable and small minded and petty all the crap that people decide to give Rudy"

Chet Holmgren said Alex Caruso is constantly giving teammates feedback and advice. I asked Caruso how much he enjoys the team aspect of competing: "I love it. I love being able to find and pick apart little advantages that we can gain through the game. My mind, especially during the postseason, is always running and tinkering and looking for different ways to take advantage of the game. And when I see different things for guys on my team that I think can help them, I'm going to mention it to them. Sometimes it's good and it's right and it helps them. And sometimes it's just me talking to myself. But that's something that I'm okay with because it's in the pursuit of being great and it's in the pursuit of us winning games. That's what it takes. You've got to be obsessed with the game to win at a high level, and I try to be."
