I know that they’re always lying about this sort of thing, but it doesn’t matter to me personally either way. If Christians took over a day that used to be a pagan holiday and turned it into celebration of Jesus instead, who cares? “His enemies will be made into a footstool.”

It amazes me that the anti-Christmas crowd can just say things not give any resources or ancient documents where they got any of these things from and people will just believe them and then when you actually say actual ancient sources, you're the one lying truly amazing

The calculation of March 25 as the day Jesus was crucified SUPPORTS the pagan origins of Christmas. You deceive your viewers when you leave out the small little fact that March 25 was the Spring Equinox on Julian Calendar. You know it but they don’t. This just-so-happens to align with the Greco-Roman (pagan) belief in cosmic symmetry when it comes to dying on the day you were born. To them this was a sign of divine fulfillment of cosmic fate and destiny. Such as was claimed to be the case for Socrates, Emperor Tiberius, etc. This furthers the claim that Roman society blended aspects of it’s pre-christian (Pagan) culture with its new religion of Christianity.

There was no pagan festival in Rome on 3/25 or 12/25. You assume a lot from little information. The Romans calculated celestial events do not show any religious significance. Ronald Hutton says, “The official calendar of Julius Caesar marked them at the 25th. The uncertainty was perfectly natural, for at midwinter and midsummer the solar orb does appear to rise and set in the same places for a few days; the very term, solstice, is taken from the Latin for ‘the sun stands still.’ The traditional pagan Roman calendar had left this period as a quiet and mysterious one, and flanked it instead with a festival of preparation and one of completion: the former was the feast of Saturn, the Saturnalia, in the days after 17 December, the latter the New Year feast, the Kalendae, from 1 to 3 January" (The Stations of the Sun, 2).

That's kind of crazy that this was aired on QI. For those who don't know, QI is a popular television gameshow on BBC2 payed for by the British tax payer.

Stephen what's his name is not really an atheist. He often expresses anger with God. Why would he be angry at someone he doesn't think exists? I think people like him are very very afraid that maybe they are wrong.

**📜✨ NEW SONG: “Christmas Isn’t Pagan” — A Musical Exorcism of the Dumbest Internet Myth” Every December, like clockwork, the same meme crawls out of the digital swamp: “Christmas is pagan!” “Christians stole the winter solstice!” “The tree is pagan! The date is pagan! Everything is pagan!” It spreads like glitter — loud, annoying, and impossible to clean up. But here’s the thing most people shouting this have never actually checked: There is zero ancient source saying Christians borrowed Christmas from pagans. None. Not a shred. Not a sentence. Not a footnote. The early Christians weren’t browsing Pinterest trying to reinvent Saturnalia. They were busy surviving persecutions, burying martyrs, and preaching the Gospel in a world hostile to their existence. Meanwhile, the December 25th date didn’t come from pagans — it came from a very old Christian belief: that Jesus was conceived on the same calendar day He would later die. Ancient Jews often linked the great works of God with the same yearly date. Early Christians inherited the idea. So: March 25 → Annunciation Nine months later → December 25 → Nativity Not pagan. Not borrowed. Not syncretized. Just straight-up Christian theology about the Incarnation. Even the tree isn’t pagan. There’s no ancient pagan cult of the evergreen Christmas tree. There are medieval Christians using evergreens to symbolize eternal life and the Paradise Tree from Genesis, but nothing resembling “Thor’s Winter Shrub of Human Sacrifice” like TikTok claims. This song is a little gift-wrapped correction for the internet: No, Christmas is not Saturnalia. No, Christians didn’t steal it. No, your edgy coworker didn’t uncover a conspiracy. And yes — it is completely okay to celebrate the birth of the God-Man without checking with ancient druids first. 🎶 “Christmas Isn’t Pagan” — a track for the history nerds, the theology lovers, the tired Catholics correcting Facebook relatives, the converts defending the faith, and everyone who’s sick of Wikipedia-level misinformation passing as scholarship. #Catholic #Christmas #Incarnation #NotPagan #ChristianHistory #CatholicTruth #PetersBarque #BibleStudy #Theology #MerryChristmas 🔗 FOLLOW PETER’S BARQUE X: Instagram: TikTok: Facebook:
