Use THIS Practice Drill To Master Ball Screen Defense In this drill from How To Run Championship Practices, Coach Schultz focuses on the 3 primary coverages his team uses: -Drop coverage -Flat hedge -Trap You might want to include other coverages. That's fine! The drill can easily be adapted to include whatever coverages work best for your team. What's great is your team gets multiple reps working on different coverages. If you do use the trap, use that on the final rep of the drill. This allows the drill to flow more smoothly.Ryan Schultz

THE DRILL THAT GETS HATE… BUT IT’S NEVER FAILED. I was taught this drill many years ago by Epstein Hitting, and I still use it today for one reason: it works. Sit down. No stride. No drift. No extra movement. Now learn to unwind from that position and let your body organize itself to get the barrel through the ball. When you take away the movement, there’s nowhere to hide. You learn how to create quickness and power without momentum. Then we add the movement back in. The result? A quicker barrel, more efficient turn, and ultimately more exit velocity. Sometimes the best way to improve movement is to take the movement away first. They’ll hate the drill. They’ll love what it does to their swing. 💥

Bar hop How It’s Done Start on one side of the stick with two targets at 7-10 yards and 1 yard apart. On the beep, engage the target directly in front of you with two shots, then engage the second target with two shots. Step over the stick and reengage the first target with two shots, and then the second target with two shots again. This drill is 8 shots total, with four on each target. Why It’s Done This drill is a great way to introduce movement into your training. If you're used to static shooting, this drill would be a great one to start with. It may be just one step, but getting your feet to do what they’re supposed to while shooting is harder than it looks. This drill also includes a couple of transitions, which will easily get you some Charlies and Deltas if you’re not careful. Things to Remember The goal is to make it sound like you're shooting one target. What I mean by that is you should try to shorten the time between targets and make the flow as smooth as possible. When you start and when you finish, be sure to check your stance. You don’t want to end up off balance. Bending your knees will help soften your movement. As always, make sure you are looking at a small spot and not just the whole target. It’s one of my favorite drill to do so give it a try! Thanks sis for the drill suggestion! Hannah
