This morning we were in Sinoville, Annlin and Wonderboom fixing potholes which are the basics that keep a city functional. The DA will bring focus back to the basics — reliable power, safe roads and clean water. Tshwane can work again, but only if we make the DA the biggest party in the metro. We are ready to finish the work we started.

Proper roads without potholes. Safe footpaths. Working streetlights. Foot over bridges where needed. Visible zebra crossings. That alone is enough to make a city a smart city. Forget fancy slogans, does your city have these basics? Is your city really a smart city?

Yesterday, I moved a reasonable and common sense motion designed to give playgrounds back to our kids by clearing encampments near schools, parks and daycares. Rather than listening to parents like Rakshitha and Jennifer, Mayor Chow and her allies on council watered down the motion to address only 5% of encampments across the entire city. That’s not good enough for my family or for yours. It’s time to build a safe and clean city where our kids can thrive. Sign here if you agree 👉

Denver City Council debating reading a “slavery acknowledgment” at the start of meetings in addition to the “land acknowledgment” to talk about how terrible America is Councilwoman Shontel Lewis who proposed it says it might be “uncomfortable” for white people. The acknowledgement calls for reparations and says our country’s economy and infrastructure was built on slavery and it’s still like that today. They’re currently debating if it’s “inclusive” enough.
