Clavicular explaining why he doesn't read books is foolish: "I don't really read books...you could just get the information through summaries and articles." Thinking that a book summary can replace reading a book is like thinking a movie trailer can replace watching a movie.

The importance of deep reading and critical thinking as our brains adapt to digital distractions and information overload is the subject of this year’s Princeton Pre-read book, “Reader, Come Home: The Reading Brain in a Digital World” by Maryanne Wolf. The Pre-read is a Princeton tradition started by President Eisgruber, who introduces first-year students to intellectual life on campus by selecting a book to read and discuss together. "'Reader, Come Home' addresses beautifully and persuasively what may be the single most important question for incoming students at Princeton University, why should we continue to read long, demanding books when short summaries are easily obtained?" Read more on why President Eisgruber selected this year's Pre-read:

Interesting perspective on school vs. books by MrBeast: "I graduated from school thinking books suck, books are boring, and I'd never read a book. But in reality, they were just giving me sh*tty books that I hated." "I loved The Goal, and I loved Walter Isaacson's biography on Steve Jobs and Elon Musk...but the problem is just every book they gave me in school was terrible."

A lot of Epstein experts out here haven’t even read the book. Anyone trying to tell you he didn’t work for Israel who hasn’t read One Nation Under Blackmail is either intentionally spinning a narrative or entirely unserious. I have yet to meet anyone who’s read it and disputes the claims Whitney Webb makes. But really, this video is meant as a reminder- no amount of scrolling X will ever substitute for reading a book. Read more books.

I agree with Jay Dyer. Most people simply don't ready anymore. David Wood Dr. David Wood recently admitted that if a book is more than like 200 pages he wouldn't read it. Jay actually asked me for book recommendations prior to our debate and delayed the debate so that he could read a particular book before our debate. Here are some of the books I read in preparation for my debate with Jay. Admittedly, I haven't read every single page of these books. However, I've read many of them cover to cover and key parts in others that were related to our debate.

Today marks the start of National Book Week📚 a time to celebrate and promote the power of reading across South Africa. Reading is a foundational skill on which all other learning is built, this journey starts with a single book! I encourage you to get involved: read to a child, donate or share your cherished books, buy books for those who need them, or visit your local library with a child. Let’s work together to ensure that every child can experience the joy and benefits of reading, igniting hope for a brighter future. #NBW2024 #ReadToLead
