Good morning to everyone in Massachusetts who know why we have sky-high costs. Massachusetts is now one of the most expensive states in the country to live in. Housing is out of reach, energy bills keep climbing, groceries cost more every month, and taxes never seem to go down. This didn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of decades of one-party Democrat control on Beacon Hill. Look around the country. The highest cost-of-living states are almost all Democrat-run. Meanwhile, many of the most affordable states are run by Republicans. That’s not coincidence. It’s policy. Democrats love to talk about affordability, but their policies make nothing more affordable. More regulation, higher taxes, higher energy costs, and endless spending drive businesses and families out of Massachusetts every year. Even wages tell the story. Working people felt relief when Republicans pushed for economic growth and fiscal restraint. When Democrats regain full control, spending explodes and real wages fall behind the cost of living. Our tourism and hospitality industries are in the gutter and absolute crisis mode. Rural Ireland is experiencing a season like never before. Restaurants, bars, souvenir shops, jarveys, bike rentals and many many more small family run businesses are more often empty than full We will experience closures like never seen before in this country this winter if this government does not act quickly. We have lost all competitiveness due to spiralling costs driving up prices. Reducing the VAT is not the answer to solve immediate problems that need addressing straight away. It doesn’t matter what the VAT rate is if we have no one in our businesses I really hope Peter Burke and his team listened to what I said when we met and took on board my recommendations. It is now extremely scary and many small businesses can not sustain the costs they have incurred over the last 4-5 years. If these businesses close forever, the cost to the state will be far more than what it would cost to solve this mess once and for all I am not confident at all that the actions will be carried out but I hope there’s still time to convince them what needs to be done You will see businesses close from September onwards. It won’t be pretty by any means

I met with representatives of Ukrainian businesses, including the owners, executives, and directors of the largest grocery and home improvement supermarkets, hypermarkets, and marketplaces. We discussed, first and foremost, how the state can support these logistically important businesses as Russian strikes continue. The Ministers of Finance and Economy, together with the National Bank and the team of the Office, have to prepare decisions soon on expanding support programs for businesses. In particular, opportunities to participate in the Affordable Loans Program will be expanded so that those who currently do not meet the requirements but are objectively working to ensure that Ukrainians have everything they need can access resources for recovery. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will help secure agreements with our partners. The program must be realistic and fully practical for businesses. The relevant tasks have been defined. #WATCH | Delhi CM Rekha Gupta says, "This is truly a historic day. Delhi EV Policy, which we aim to implement starting July 1, 2026. Following the LG's approval, the policy will remain in effect until March 31, 2030. It focuses entirely on electric vehicles—specifically zero-emission vehicles—with the ultimate goal of gradually transforming Delhi into a pollution-free city for the benefit of its residents. We have devised a comprehensive plan to execute this in phases over the next four years. I would like to highlight that the policy entails an expenditure of ₹7,000 crore over these four years alone. Additionally, we are investing ₹8,000 crore in creating EV infrastructure and waiving road taxes year-on-year; in total, we estimate that the people of Delhi will receive benefits worth approximately ₹15,000 crore through this policy. The measures include purchase incentives, scrapping incentives, the creation of charging infrastructure, and exemptions on road tax and registration fees. This scheme will be highly beneficial for the general public, as we have endeavoured to bridge the price gap between electric vehicles and conventional vehicles through these subsidies. I believe Delhi is the only state in the country launching such a massive EV policy framework; it not only involves an outlay of ₹15,000 crore but also adopts an uncapped, phased approach regarding vehicle numbers—meaning we will incentivise and support the adoption of as many vehicles as the public chooses to purchase. We have not imposed any kind of cap over these four years. We have included two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, N1 trucks, and 'Gramin Seva' vehicles in this policy...Following the Cabinet's approval, it will be sent to the Lieutenant Governor today. Once implemented from July 1st, every resident of Delhi will be able to avail the benefits of this policy."
