I don't think you understood his point made at 11:30. He was trying to say the cost and maintenance of the vehicle is covered by the driver, not uber, while for tesla, these costs are borne by Tesla. I imagine what he's trying to say is tesla needs to climb out from a deeper hole to reach profitability, while Uber doesn't need to as their upfront costs are much less.
