Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good enough. When it comes to working out sometimes all you need is a few minutes if you use that the right way with intensity and going beyond what you did last time. This is the concept of progressive overload and this is what you need to make progress in the gym. you don’t need two hours of workouts that completely drains you in order to make progress and be healthy. in fact, some of my best workouts arrive when I’m on a time crunch and the quality and intensity and effort of the exercise exercises have to be on point.

My #SundayShare is 2 v 1 practice looking at forward passing and movement to receive. A key task is off the ball movement - players must time their run to receive in the central channel (which defenders cannot enter) to progress to the final third. Coaching points: · Positioning to receive: ideally on the half turn. · Movement off the ball: looking for space and angles to receive. · Decision-making: timing of runs and the pass. · Technique – weight of pass; also angle. · Creativity: core moves, especially blind side runs, diagonal run/straight ball and vice versa. Game Speed Layups With The Kentucky Drill Layups can make or break a game. The problem is that in practice sometimes players don’t go full speed when doing their layups. This drill from The Buzz Half Court Trapping Defense from coach Kevin Furtado fixes that. The goal is 27 layups in one minute. All passes must be on target on time as the player sprints the full length of the floor to make their lay up. -Players are in charge of organizing the drills -Always start with a high energy drill when beginning practice -This is an opportunity to chart effort given by players when running sprints -1 and 2 start with the ball at the top of the key

And the reason is, if you can get to the moon, it has an extraordinary abundance of material that we can mine, process, and manufacture into goods. And ultimately the cost to ship those goods back to the Earth is zero. And the reason is that on the moon, you can take advantage of the low gravity, it's about 1/6 the gravity, and the complete lack of an atmosphere, meaning that it's frictionless to move material off of the moon and very low energy to move it off of the moon. In fact, the design for moving material off of the moon is to use what's called a mass driver, which is like a train track, like a rail, like an electric rail. JV OR VARSITY This question is going to come up a ton across the country this month. So many players are on the cusp of playing varsity or jv. There are so many variables to what is best for the kid and the program, but every case should be looked at individually. Some players would benefit from staying down and having. A ton of responsibility, while others need the daily practice reps over the game reps. Ultimately the goal is that the kid is at their best in the future years to help the program be their best.

My #SundayShare is a breaking lines practice. Teams locked in zones look for opening for penetrative pass to a teammate for a point (waist high limit on passes). If intercepted, the other team tries the same. Coaching points: · Positioning: to receive both on half turn (in own area) and square to receive penetrative pass. · Scanning: where are the gaps? · Receiving: controlling with good first touch. · Movement: to receive and offset opponents. · Technique: firm push pass with follow through. · Deception: feint pass. Progressions: (1) players on two touches; (2) first time penetrative pass = 2; (3) after two passes, one opponent can enter the quarter for a 1 v 3. If they win the ball they pass back to their teammates and re-join their group. Formed first practice in whole – part - whole session with the U11 as part of Block 3 of the training syllabus. Then move to 1 v 1s in the channels. If attackers get into the box they are 1 v GK. Coaching points (group defending): · Movement: initial press to narrow space in front of attackers. · Scanning: where is the threat? Where are my teammates? · Communication: work as a group. · Positioning: protect the central area; use the channels as reference; keep a tight line. Progression (optional): create attacking overloads. Ended the session with a normal match where teams looked to play a back three and keep a solid defensive line (coaches transformed into eagle-eyed linos). A lot of infielders are scared of the short hop. Great infielders create it! Here are some keys to playing the short hop: 1️⃣ Move your feet The closer your glove is to the ball, the less that can go wrong. Move your feet to catch the ball as close to the ground as possible 2️⃣ Play from the ground up Playing under the ball softens our hands and allows us to play through it 3️⃣ Practice away from the field To get really good at fielding (or anything) you need to put in hours and hours of practice. There is not enough team practice time to get in the reps you need to play at a high level. You must take what you learned at practice and work on it at your house. The garage, basement, driveway, or backyard. Reps build trust. 4️⃣ Someone is always working It’s a big world. If you aren’t consistently sharpening your game, someone else is.

KIDS: I had a Russian coach growing up, one of the best coaches I've ever had, whose biggest habit he instilled in us was moving without the puck. He would make us do a somersault on the ice if we passed the puck and just stood there in practice. All practice he would be yelling GET OPEN!!! Our team was the best I've ever seen with give-and-go's. We were programmed to always be moving to support the puck, especially just after we passed it. We developed so much hockey sense under him with that mentality as it continually forced us to anticipate where the play was going. That year, we won the National Championship and we had a ton of players end up playing college hockey. This is a PHENOMENAL clip of what he would have been so proud of. Pass, move, get it back, goal. Nolan Allan gets the puck, moves it quick, dashes right to the net while the defender watched the pass, and then receives it right back and buries. Absolute gold. Coaches, this is a great clip to show your teams on the power of moving away from the puck and the give-and-go. Great job and congrats to Allan on his first NHL goal!!
