Codex can now run Deepseek-v4- flash! There's a catch though. Deepseek's official setup switches your entire codex over to them, so your GPT models stop showing up at all. This is exactly what Codex Router is for. It adds models to the list instead of replacing them, so sol, grok, kimi and deepseek all sit in the same picker and i just grab whichever one suits the job. if you use Codex and you're stuck on GPT models only, this fixes that. it's called codex-router, open source. drops other models straight into your normal Codex picker, right next to the GPT ones you already have. what it adds: - Grok, Kimi, Deepseek, Claude, all in the same picker - oauth login per provider, no api key needed - your GPT models and Chatgpt login stay untouched setup: point Codex at the repo, let it read the readme, it installs itself one snag: if you've got the Chatgpt app and a separate Codex on your path, you can end up running two different Codex versions, and the older one can choke on newer config it doesn't recognize. if the install looks off after, that's probably why, reinstall clean.

OpenCode Go is now wired into Codex!! The pricing is insane. $10 gets you 10,000 DeepSeek requests every 5 hours (no weekly limits). I converted that into DeepSeek API dollars because I thought I was reading it wrong, and the same 5 hours of usage would run somewhere between $10 and $30 depending on how big your context gets. So one afternoon of use already covers the whole sub. It comes with Kimi K3 as well. Both sit in the picker next to my other models now. Next time we hit a limit in the middle of a loop, we can grab it and keep going.

Muse Spark 1.3 is now in Codex!! OpenCode's free tier runs it for nothing, and $10 on OpenCode Go gets you over 45,300 requests. It's basically Opus 5 tier too. There's a catch though. Meta may use your inputs and outputs for training, which is the whole reason the tier is called contributor and the whole reason it's free. Muse 1.3 just sits in the picker next to my paid models now. I'll just use Astra + Muse Spark for subagents. Gonna keep everything in stock in case we need it.

Updated the subagents system in my custom Pi extension to include: - Pi subagents - Codex subagents - Claude Code subagents The Pi thread can call and spin up any of them, and instead of just using the "codex exec" or whatever, it'll do a tool call that wraps it up in a first class way. Have a decent UI for them already added in as well. Pi being the main thread then having Codex/Claude Code as tools when needed feels so good. A flow I'm already using a ton is: "Implement feature ___, have a cc fable subagent research and plan out the api design + feature, then have a codex subagent implement it, then have a cc fable subagent do a review/fixes focused on simplicity and correctness" I also have a dynamic workflows extension setup and working, but it's not nearly as polished yet. Probably gonna make the subagent system more robust, then built it around that so u could have a workflow that flows between codex/cc/pi...

For anyone building games in Codex, there’s another useful part here: getting your game online and finding people to play it. Combos CLI lets you publish from Codex to Combos, share a link with friends, and put your game in a community where others can discover and play it. You can use image and audio models through the same account too.
