Codex now works directly in Chrome on macOS and Windows. It’s even better at working with apps and sites in Chrome, and now works in parallel across tabs in the background without taking over your browser. To get started, install the Chrome plugin in the Codex app.

With the new Chrome extension, Codex can quickly move through repetitive browser work, like navigating structured pages and complex data entry flows. Under the hood, it writes and runs code to navigate and complete tasks.

If a task needs multiple tools, Codex chooses the best one for each step. It uses plugins when they can handle the job, Chrome when it needs a logged-in website, and combines approaches as needed.

The Chrome extension expands what Codex can do for coding and work. From debugging browser flows to checking dashboards, conducting research, or updating CRMs, Codex can take on more of the tasks that already happen in your browser. Available today in the Codex app in all regions except EU and UK, with support coming soon.

I'm using the extension in Edge, and Codex can use the plugin fine, but the browser shows "Not connected" in the Codex desktop. Will official support be available for all Chromium-based browsers?

OpenAI You seriously need to improve communication around feature rollouts. As an EU user, I genuinely want to use Codex and the broader OpenAI ecosystem. But when new features are announced publicly and many of us in Europe still can’t access them — with no clear timeline or visibility — it creates frustration and uncertainty. At some point, people will start moving to competitors simply because they communicate availability and rollout expectations more clearly. Please communicate more transparently about: * Expected EU rollout timelines * Which features are delayed in the EU * Why certain features are unavailable * Whether restrictions are technical, legal, or policy-related The products are incredible. The communication around availability is not.

Unavailable in EU and UK at launch, GDPR doing its job before the product even ships 😂 the regulatory gap between US and Europe on AI is getting wider every month.

If you’re in the UK or EU, just use browser harness from browser use on a local chrome. Wires up to codex super easy & you get a chrome browser that never fails, been using it a while now for codex and Hermes.

Excellent! I'm curious on the capabilities compared to Claude in Chrome and and Browser Harness which are the two I use most often. Does this have any special sauce as a first-party plugin to differentiate it from Browser Harness specifically?

Codex also say hello to @brave, which is better than Google Chrome. You can also let Codex use Brave Browser.

This is huge, I just had it go on my linkedin, read all my posts, create a spreadsheet of the posts, and then create a doc with content suggestions for the next 3 months based on the content that performed the best. Its also wicked fast on spark fast mode

parallel tabs in the background is the real upgrade tbh codex just writing puppeteer scripts to click through data entry forms while you're in another tab not in eu or uk yet, regulatory moat getting real lol

Amazing, but where is it!

Codex plugging straight into Chrome without the usual browser takeover is a total game changer for getting real work done. It got me thinking how this could finally kill off all those clunky tab switching routines that eat up half my day. I’m curious how the background parallel mode handles tricky logged in sites or sudden page changes?

Using it right now, I'll try customize my websites frontends real-time with that. I'll prompt Codex to do improvements on visuals and check them via this extension real-time. Let's see what will happen.
