The movie is such a vibe. Michael Mann is a legend but disappointed that Miami vice 2006 was such a flop

Why didn’t Cruise continue making solid films as well as the blockbusters?

Vincent’s nightclub rampage in COLLATERAL (2004) is Michael Mann at his absolute best. The precision, the lighting, and the way Tom Cruise moves through the chaos make it one of the coldest action sequences ever filmed.

“Think anybody will notice?” Tom Cruise’s death scene in Collateral (2004) lingers long after the credits roll. Michael Mann ending the film with Vincent dying anonymously on a subway after acting untouchable all night is such a cold final note.

Director Michael Mann had Tom Cruise "stalk" members of the production crew for weeks before filming Collateral (2004). Cruise had to follow them without being seen and "kill" them by sticking a Post-it note on their backs that said "You’re dead."
