Just woke my sorry ass up from a code-induced coma after spending the night optimizing the rendering for #GTA3 on the Sega #Dreamcast... still have a SHITTON more code to go through, but the results are looking fantastic! Here's the second half of the opening intro! A bunch of the special effects such as screen-space bloom, spot-lights, fog, and rain have made their way onto the DC, and while it looks like there are a few graphical glitches here and there, the aesthetic of the original game is starting to be realized without impacting performance too much! I need to go approve a few PRs into the KallistiOS repository to buy us a few more KB of RAM back to ensure that a 16MB stock DC can make it this far into the intro cutscene without running out of memory, though, along with giving us the space to enable these -O3 optimizations on all builds, as they're currently an optional build flag only enabled when targeting units with the 32MB RAM expansion. Right now 16MB builds are currently only optimized at -O2, which yields a drop of maybe 3-5 FPS or so. ON IT! The rendering glitches with the spotlights are almost certainly textbook graphics pipeline state change leaks (common especially with OpenGL-style APIs which manipulate global static state), and will just take a little more sleuthing to resolve. Finally, there is still a SHITLOAD of room left for increased performance on the rendering side... I will be continuing my work there, Jaxyn will be implementing the final portion of the near-plane clipping algorithm, and our fearless leader, Stefanos Kornilios Mitsis Poiitidis will be tackling everyone's favorite thing to ask about: audio. Thank you all so much for your continued support and for proving that, despite what you may have been told, the Sega Dreamcast is still alive and kicking! ...and maybe, just maybe, the narrative you've all been fed (and many of you are still parroting) about the DC not being able to handle this game was fake news. ;) #gamedev #retrogaming #indiegame

GOLD COLLATERAL REVOLUTION: THE ASIAN STRATEGY THAT COULD REWRITE GLOBAL FINANCE WHEN TRUST IN THE DOLLAR BREAKS Gold expert and central bank insider Gregor Gregersen knows the Asian gold market like few others in the sector. He currently serves on a central bank committee in Singapore for the new gold hub project and is involved with Hong Kong’s gold strategy. A massive realignment is underway in the gold market that most investors still miss. While Western exchanges continue to trade paper gold with massive leverage, Asia is moving physical metal and building collateral systems designed for a post-dollar world. THE CHINA GOLD BLACK HOLE ➡️ China is importing vastly more gold than official numbers show, with estimates pointing to four times the reported figures from the World Gold Council. ➡️ Purchases happen off-exchange in OTC markets, allowing massive physical accumulation without driving up the visible price on LBMA or COMEX. ➡️ Once inside China the metal rarely comes back out, creating a strategic one-way flow that has continued for 10 to 15 years. THE POWER OF TRUE COLLATERAL ➡️ Collateral is now the single most important topic in the entire gold industry. ➡️ Unlike repo transactions where banks can re-use and multiply the same gold up to 50 or 60 times, true collateral keeps full ownership with the customer. ➡️ Borrowers receive significantly lower interest rates because the physical gold serves as direct, unencumbered security for the loan. SINGAPORE AND HONG KONG BUILD THE BACKUP ➡️ Singapore is developing a major gold hub project with direct involvement from its central bank committee and recently added several tonnes to reserves. ➡️ Hong Kong is executing a clear Chinese strategy to create a controlled free-trade gold center that can function when the US dollar loses acceptance. ➡️ These hubs enable institutions and family offices to borrow against physical gold through licensed structures while keeping legal title with the owner. THE PAPER SYSTEM'S BREAKING POINT ➡️ The Western paper gold system runs on far more IOUs than actual physical metal, often 30 to 40 times the real backing. ➡️ In stress events the paper price can fall sharply as leveraged positions unwind, while physical premiums explode and metal becomes nearly impossible to source at spot. ➡️ The October silver squeeze proved how fast leasing rates can spike to 50 or even 100 percent when real supply runs dry. THE TRUST THRESHOLD ➡️ The entire dollar-based system rests on confidence alone and survives only until enough participants simply refuse to accept it anymore. ➡️ History shows reserve currencies shift roughly every 100 years when that trust finally collapses. ➡️ Nations are already preparing the alternative with physical gold stored securely and collateral systems that operate outside the old centers. THE BOTTOM LINE The West keeps multiplying paper promises while the East quietly moves the real metal and turns it into functional collateral. When the run on trust begins, only physical gold held with clear ownership and lending rights in secure jurisdictions will still work. This is how the next financial order takes shape — one collateralized ounce at a time. The moment Hideo Kojima shocked everyone by stepping onto the XBOX stage in 2009 Seeing Kojima this close with Xbox again in 2026 is giving me the SAME feeling I had watching E3 that day💚 I watched this moment LIVE and it still hits. 🟢 When Kojima walked onto the Xbox 360 stage, a lot of us thought the impossible was happening: MGS4 was finally coming to Xbox. Instead, Kojima revealed an entirely NEW game: METAL GEAR SOLID: RISING And hearing Kojima speak in English for that long on stage made the moment feel even more special. He didn’t just send a trailer. HE showed up for Xbox. 🟢 This was Xbox 360 at the top of its game. Huge E3 moments. Massive surprises. Xbox Live booming. Microsoft chasing Japanese creators and franchises people never expected to see on Xbox. Then the story got even crazier! The original Rising struggled in development and was eventually cancelled. PlatinumGames stepped in, rebuilt the concept and turned it into: METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE. It became a success, developed a huge cult following, and somehow we STILL never got a sequel. 😭 🟢 Now look at 2026. Kojima and Xbox are close again with OD, and now PHYSINT is part of that relationship too. That’s why this feels so full circle to me. 2009: Kojima walks onto the Xbox stage and shocks gaming. 2026: Kojima is back alongside Xbox leadership with major projects ahead. I’m starting to get that old Xbox 360 feeling again. Big swings. Big creators. Unpredictable announcements. Are Kojima and Xbox bringing some of that PEAK magic back? 💚🎮

The #GTA 3 port to the Sega #Dreamcast has been progressing at an incredible pace. It's been amazing to see the whole DC community come together to tag-team this "impossible" project... Here it is running on a stock DC, no longer requiring the 32MB RAM hardware modification, only a few weeks into development. Since I finally got the time to sit down, build the codebase, and look into some of what I think is the critical path for performance, let's talk about some technical shit, and some of the future steps I think can be taken to further improve performance. First of all, I want everyone to take note that this is NOT a port of the PS2 version. This is a port of the PC version, which has extra content, increased draw distance, improved textures, and other things that have actually increased the challenge here... Whether the DC version will ultimately have these additions or not will remain to be seen, but we're running into plenty of shit that the PS2 didn't have to worry about (like these big-ass PC replay saves won't fit onto a Visual Memory Unit!) Secondly, lets talk about what is and isn't currently optimized, because it's absolutely vital that the DC's hardware is fully utilized here for the sake of performance and achieving a competitive polygon count. Unlike with modern devices, where the whole graphics pipeline is handled by the GPU, both the PS2 and Dreamcast were responsible for transforming and doing lighting calculations for each vertex BEFORE they got submitted to the GPU. The PS2 had a vector coprocessor to do this, while the Dreamcast had a few extremely important SIMD and fast math assembly instructions on its CPU to do these computations. Up until literally just a few hours ago (not shown in this footage), the Dreamcast's SH4 was doing 100% of these operations in slow-ass plain C and C++ code, which is absolutely sub-optimal and is immediately bogging down its CPU with just transforming vertices, bottlenecking the entire graphics pipeline on the fist T&L stage, and also leaving less CPU time for handling other gameplay logic... this is going to absolutely have to be addressed (and already has begun to be). Another issue that is crippling performance here is the fact that the models are all using individual triangles rather than triangle strips, which the Dreamcast's PVR GPU was designed to handle better... Converting these models to use strips rather than individual triangles will result in MANY different gainz for the DC, as you're going from 3N to N+2 vertices per triangle. Converting the models to triangle strips will 1) reduce load times, since model assets will be smaller 2) reduce the amount of video memory required to hold these vertices on the GPU 3) reduce the amount of shit that must be transferred from the CPU to the GPU and 4) give us back a bunch of CPU time, since the SH4 will be less bogged down transforming redundant vertices! TL;DR: This is still EXTREMELY suboptimal in terms of fully utilizing the graphical potential of the Dreamcast. There is going to be a LOT that can be done still to both improve performance and polygon counts, so stay tuned! FINALLY: Mad respect and love to Stefanos Kornilios Mitsis Poiitidis, for doing an amazing job leading this project, and to Frogbull , Esppiral, and everyone else who is helping us stick it to the PS2 by making this happen! #gamedev #retrogaming #cplusplus

So much of what's circulating about MGSΔ on the internet is unreasonable and unfair. The treatment of the game is really strange and unfair, and I'm going to show you another letter of nobility from the development team that NO ONE has noticed since the game's release in August 2025. No one has mentioned it on Twitter, YouTube, Reddit, etc., yet I have rarely seen anything so respectful. MGSΔ is also a remake that keeps a low profile on the internet, is sometimes ashamed of its subtle additions and improvements, and has HUGE respect for the main MGS3 development team. MGSΔ is also a remake that “hides” its credits in favor of the classic MGS3 credits at the end of the game with Starsailor's iconic theme “Way to Fall,” choosing sobriety and humility when it comes to the development team that worked on MGSΔ. In fact, there are more than 10 minutes of credits for the remake available in the “EXTRA” menu of MGSΔ, presenting the staff working on this project, with a new and already legendary orchestration by Naoki Nakashima that fits perfectly with the Metal Gear universe. Given the considerable work involved, the decision to put this in second place and leave the original MGS3 credits (from the original team) is once again a sign of great respect on the part of the development team. That's not all. From the introduction onwards, the game presents itself as “based on MGS3.” With no mention of the current staff, but rather the “Original” staff (introduction) with their names highlighted. As far as I can remember, no remake project has ever done this in the world of video games. Voluntarily stepping aside to continue promoting the original team, saying (Okamura) “Keep us honest” (for the future of MG) is incredible proof of respect for the saga. Okamura and the development team reading hate messages from angry “fans” on Metal Gear Hotline was also a powerful and painful moment to watch. Okamura also said that he would like to work with Hideo Kojima again in the future. At what point can we say that this is not sincere? I just don't understand. Yet we still see insults, people saying that the game doesn't respect Kojima, and a community divided in two. We also have misinformation, sometimes deliberate by some media (the release of MGSVOL1 saying that the credits did not mention Hideo Kojima), and questionable omissions of the game from major video game events for important titles such as sound design and best remake... I wonder how long this “targeting” of Konami will continue, because OBJECTIVELY, there is a genuine desire to do well. Admittedly, there was a difficult start with performance issues in certain parts of the game (which have been fixed) and a misstep with FOX HUNT, but the game does not deserve the hatred we see everywhere. If we want to see METAL GEAR continue, we need to soften our judgment and trust them. Fortunately, Delta's sales were good and the series will be able to continue evolving, but I still have a slight fear for the future... Because there is always strange hostility on the internet. Sorry if this tweet was a bit long, but it had to be said.

Things are pretty bleak in the world of games journalism right now, especially when it comes to physical media. Websites and magazines are being closed down, which means both job losses and a reduction in opportunities for talented writers. It also means that YOU have fewer places to read about games. Independent companies are trying to keep websites, blogs and gaming magazines alive, but without the backing of a large publisher or intrusive ads, that can be really hard. If you want to continue to support amazing writing about the video game space, please support independent outlets who are trying to bring you what you want, while also providing opportunities to talented journalists, artists, illustrators, photographers and designers. If you'd like to support a brand new company set up to do just that, then please consider backing our campaign for GENERATIONS, a new premium gaming magazine that looks to the past to explore how it has shaped our present and future. With words by the likes of Janet Garcia 🦋, WiFi Wars own Steve, former Games Informer editor Wesley LeBlanc, michael h vandiver, Lewis Packwood, Alicia Haddick/アリシア and many more, interviews with 河野一二三 and the team behind Still Wakes the Deep, artwork and illustrations by Sean O'Brien, Alessio Greco and others, this is going to be a must-have for video game lovers. Bloomberg's Jason Schreier details why #PlayStation parted ways with #Kojima on #Physint, while giving the perspectives of all sides involved. PlayStation perspective: Neither Death Stranding 1 or 2 lived up to PS's sales expectations. DS1 sold better than DS1, but a bulk of its sales were discounted (less revenue) and on PC, which PS didn't publish. As timed exclusives they also didn't drive console sales the way a permanent exclusive might. A lot of the folk Kojima was closest with at PlayStation, are also no longer at the company, which was also a factor. They signed on to make Physint, but during early production over the last few years "it has been missing milestones, it has been late on deadlines, it has been over budget, and it has not been living up to PlayStation's expectations", per multiple sources at PlayStation. There was also uncertainty about the games development, and Kojima was also asking for a lot of money fot it; in the hundreds of millions. These things coupled with difficult discussions about exclusivity windows (PS don't do PC releases for SP any more), ultimately led to PS cancelling. The other thing is that with increasing AI shortage prices and PS not expecting to sell as many future consoles, they are now trying to maximise profitability and revenue per user, in other words, less risk averse. Post Concord, PlayStation also has much more rigorous process with production milestones and development assessment, hence are much more privy to cancellations if targets aren't met, unlike previously where they may have let things run. Kojima perspective: Kojima feels games are near enough always late and over budget, especially if you want award winning, prestige building, critically acclaimed or stand out games. Jason even concurs with this notion. The previous regime at PlayStation was more open to Kojima and this type of project flexibility, whereas the new regime is tightening the purse and wanting stricter controls. The new PS regimes personalities also clash more with Kojima. Xbox perspective: For Xbox, this is a play for more of the Asian market, both Japan and China. They also see potenial benefit in the movie and film production side of things, and want more exposure to that sector with Kojima. Unlike PlayStation, they are also happy to publish on PC, hence push the PC platform and take any royalties that come with it, even if Steam takes a lionshare. Jason does mention some at Xbox, especially the ones recently laid off or studios divested, may feel negatively about this bolder investment into Kojima, which is ultimately expensive and risky at a time they've been heavily cutting costs. --- He ends with mentioning that Physint is essentially a spiritual successor to Metal Gear Solid, not some niche delivery genre, hence understandable there's been much stronger reactions from players. Edited video summary attached. Full link below:

FlokiUltras3 #FlokiUltras3 💕Hello, I am Lane, a Venezuelan Floki Viking follower of the FLOKI project, participating in this #FlokiUltras3 from Falcón and Caracas – Venezuela!💕 I’ve always loved promoting the Floki ecosystem everywhere, and this time, I’ve prepared a wide-ranging communication campaign about FLOKI in our capital, Caracas, and various places in Falcón State – Venezuela. All of this is accompanied by a song I wrote, which I consider a Motivational Anthem that represents us because it perfectly reflects Floki’s philosophy. We are a warrior-like, united community that has gone through many situations that have greatly strengthened us—moments that have made us grow and move forward. No matter how many times we’ve stumbled and fallen along the way, what matters is that we always stand firm to keep advancing with commitment, humility, brotherhood, and respect. THAT’S FLOKI!❤️💪 ☀️In the video, you can see the communication campaign I carried out to give great visibility to the FLOKI project in my region: 🔹 The projection of "Nosotros somos Floki" through a large digital advertising screen in the center of the capital (Caracas) for 20 days, a highly trafficked and visible location, where all passersby could see it and learn about the project. 🔸 Participation in sports activities (sports marathon) wearing the Floki logo and joining the race alongside more than 500 runners. 🔹 Creation of several giant Floki masks, which roamed the city for days displaying the Floki logo to people and raising awareness about the project among all passersby and vehicles in the area. 🔸 A Viking visits the city wearing a Viking helmet and a LED-lit bag with the Floki logo, interacting warmly with people, handing out informational flyers about Floki, and sharing details about this great project. Several children and adults took the opportunity to take photos with him for an unforgettable memory. 🔹 With the help of a friend, I made fondant cakes featuring the well-designed Floki logo, which I then displayed and distributed to various people on some streets of my city. 🔸 Three guys dance to the rhythm of a catchy song, with lyrics I wrote based on the philosophy that has characterized us as the FLOKI community: “FLOKI LLEGÓ, FLOKI GANÓ” (translated into several languages). The guys dance among the crowd in one of the most iconic and busy parks in my city, wearing shirts with the Floki logo and projecting the joy that has always defined us as a Viking community. Floki is here to stay, continuing to gain adoption, growth, and success. 🔹 Together with my children, I created a very traditional, recreational, and typical game from my country and Latin America, a “volantín, papalote, papagayo, cometa, barrilete” (kite) with the Floki logo, to symbolize that this project has become rooted in our culture and is part of us. This kite was flown in the sky, reaching great heights, just as the FLOKI project has done throughout all these years. 🔸 At the beginning of the video, a runner is shown starting a race, representing the beginnings of FLOKI, a journey full of ups and downs and challenges that have been overcome thanks to the commitment, responsibility, and hard work of an entire team. At the end of the video, the runner raises their hands in a gesture of victory, reflecting everything we as a community have achieved, knowing that the race is not over yet. There is still a long way to go because FLOKI is a project that never stops working and growing, and as a community, we are called to continue working together. 💕It’s a work done with a lot of love, humility, and affection for the entire FLOKI community. I hope you enjoy it ! 😊❤️ Disclaimer: The promotional video, along with its music and lyrics, is not protected by copyright and is entirely owned by me. I grant authorization to all individuals and entities, including the Floki brand, to freely share, use, and distribute the video, song, and lyrics without any restrictions.

DON'T LET YOUR BITCOIN DIE WITH YOU 💀 ⚰️ Yea look, nobody likes to admit it but we all have to die one day. As I've been talking to people about their self custody lately - both Casa members and not - I hear the same thing over and over. "What happens if I die?" Many people feel pretty good about their bitcoin security for themselves. But their family members often have no idea how to use this stuff. Hardware wallet? Seed phrase stamped on metal? Shamir's secret sharing backups using SD cards, a passphrase, and a treasure hunt through the backyard with a shovel? 😵 We're solving that problem for all Casa members, starting today with Casa Inheritance. A key design principle we kept while building this was to make it as simple as possible for Recipients (your family members that will receive your bitcoin if you pass), while maintaining Casa-level security. An estate transfer is already a stressful time for family, and it can become even more stressful if you add in a crazy treasure hunt to access a fortune in bitcoin. For our basic 3 key vaults, we wanted it to be as easy as using the app. No metal plates, no need to use a hardware wallet, no magic passwords you have to keep track of or else risk messing up the asset transfer. Simplicity is security. So how does it work, in detail? A Vault Owner (Casa member) designates a Recipient (their family or friend) in the Casa app. The Recipient receives an invite to create a free Casa account. The Recipient scans a QR code provided by the Vault Owner, which contains an encrypted version of the owner's mobile key. This encrypted key is only able to be imported by the Recipient's Casa account, and the Recipient can't initially use it or see the vault balance. If the Vault Owner passes away, the Recipient can request access to the vault in their Casa app. This starts a 6 month timer, and sends a ton of notifications every month to the owner. If the owner is still alive, they can reject the request in app. If they are not, the timer will run out. When it does, the Recipient will be able to use the shared mobile key and the request a signature from the Casa Recovery Key for the shared vault. This gives them 2 out of 3 signatures, enough to access the assets. For 5 key vault users, one hardware key is shared with the Recipient. This small increase in friction for Recipients is often worth it for the increased security and resilience of a 5 key vault for larger holdings. To summarize now that you have the details: 1. Share keys and vault access during setup 2. 6 month timelock to ensure no malicious theft 3. Use shared keys and Casa key to access assets Full setup takes less than 5 minutes. Inheritance is one of the biggest problems in self custody today. The WW1 Conspiracy With the threat of WW3 due to the conflict between Hamas and Israel escalating to include Iran and the US, now would be a good time to look back at the first world war and what forces really started it... The bankers. As expected. If you found the "All Wars Are Bankers Wars" video insightful and wanted to get more intricate details on how WW1 started, then you will love this documentary from the legend James Corbett. It goes into way more detail on it's beginnings and shows beyond any doubt that it was a massive conspiracy of the richest most powerful people in the world, starting immediately after the creation of the federal reserve in the ultimate pursuit of unified nations across the world under central banking control. Aka the globalism NWO agenda we know of today, still alive and well. Any time a country, like Germany before WW1, starts to grow economically to threaten the greater powers and be free from their reach and surpassing them in power, war is manufactured with orchestrated events to draw the targeted nations into military conflicts to bankrupt the countries and then force them to come back groveling to the central bankers to ask for help and repair of their country. Here is the excerpt from AWABW quickly summarizing what happened. Watch the full Corbett doc below if you want the full story. It's incredibly well researched and high quality. "Although the war started between Austria-Hungary and Serbia , it quickly shifted to focus on Germany, whose industrial capacity was seen as an economic threat to Great Britain, who saw the decline of the British Pound as a result of too much emphasis on financial activity to the neglect of agriculture, industrial development, and infrastructure (not unlike the present day United States). Although pre-war Germany had a private central bank, it was heavily restricted and inflation kept to reasonable levels. Under government control, investment was guaranteed to internal economic development, and Germany was seen as a major power. So, in the media of the day, Germany was portrayed as the prime opponent of World War One, and not just defeated, but its industrial base flattened. Following the Treaty of Versailles, Germany was ordered to pay the war costs of all the participating nations, even though Germany had not actually started the war. This amounted to three times the value of all of Germany itself. Germany's private central bank, to whom Germany had gone deeply into debt to pay the costs of the war, broke free of government control, and massive inflation followed (mostly triggered by currency speculators) , permanently trapping the German people in endless debt."

🚨 EXPOSED: What the Flock is going on?! This is The Most Unhinged Surveillance Warning video You Will see All Year 🚨 A man fully painted as the Joker sits in his car and delivers a WILD rant about the exact laser YOU Must Never point at Flock Safety cameras. Flock runs a massive private network of license plate readers that photograph every vehicle, log the plate, time, location, and vehicle details. All that data feeds into searchable databases for police and subscribers nationwide. It tracks movements of millions of Americans every day with minimal oversight and has already sparked privacy lawsuits and city shutdowns in multiple places. The Joker guy dramatically warns against a powerful green laser in the 490 to 570 nanometer range above one thousand milliwatts. In technical reality such lasers can overwhelm and damage camera sensors by saturating them with intense light. Anything claiming megawatts is absurd theater because that power level belongs in industrial or military systems not pocket devices. Pointing lasers at surveillance gear can lead to felony charges for tampering or vandalism. Shockingly this appears to be the same person whose own robbery was solved using Flock camera footage... The irony is off the charts. Now answer these questions honestly... Do these cameras protect public safety or do they create warrantless mass tracking of every driver in America? Would you ever test a laser on one of these systems if it recorded your movements without permission? How powerful does a laser actually need to be to reliably blind these cameras and what are the permanent eye damage risks to the user? Have Flock cameras appeared near your home or commute and does knowing they watch you change how you drive? Is this Joker video hilarious performance art or a sign of growing public revolt against constant surveillance? What happens to society if thousands of people start countering these cameras with cheap tech anyone can buy online? Should private companies like Flock be allowed to build national vehicle tracking networks at all? Why do some cities keep installing them despite the privacy backlash and data breach risks? Is interfering with surveillance ever justified self defense or is it always criminal? The video exposes more than it intends. Watch it. Reply with your real take. The discussion starts here. Here’s my full Rivian R2 Performance review, covering features, design, some things I liked and didn't like, going off-roading, and more: At the end of my weeklong test, it dawned on me that the R2 Performance is a competitor to the Model Y Performance. I say "dawned" because the two vehicles couldn’t feel more different in their overall ethos. The R2 feels at home off-road. It soaks up bumps well, the suspension is well tuned, and it feels like an adventure vehicle. The Model Y Performance feels at home on-road, tackling corners and eating miles with FSD. Exterior: A boxy design might not be the most efficient, but I love the look. I'm a fan of the oval shaped front lights. The side profile and rear also both look great. There is a F1-style light at the top when braking. The 5.2 cu ft frunk is large for a vehicle in this class. The 9.6" ground clearance (3" more than Model Y) gives you a commanding view of what's ahead, but you do get a decent amount of body roll even in firm suspension mode. Fit and finish was good. The 20" Black Sand wheels with all-terrain tires look sweet. Fit and finish was good overall, and the 20-inch Black Sand wheels with all-terrain tires look sweet Interior: I'm a fan of the design. I’ve seen some people say the interior feels cheap, but I mostly disagree. The main touch points use nice textile, wood, and vegan leather trim. One material choice I don’t like, though, is the A- and B-pillars. Instead of textile, Rivian uses a hard, textured plastic designed to look like fabric. It’s also slightly lighter than the all-black headliner, which makes it more noticeable. The entire rear cargo area, aside from the floor, and the tailgate trim are also covered in hard plastic. Whether that’s a good or bad thing depends on how you use the vehicle. It’s easier to clean and probably better suited for hauling dirty gear, but textile or fabric like you get in the Model Y would do a better job absorbing sound and preventing cargo from sliding around and making noise. The front seats are extremely comfortable, and the lumbar support is great. It's easier to spend hours in them. The heated seats and steering wheel get nice and toasty. The cooled seats are some of the best I've ever experienced, but they are also the loudest. You can hear them at 60 mph. You can also feel like motor humming a bit, although that disappears when the vehicle is moving at speed. The sound system is an improvement over the R1S, but I’d still like deeper, more powerful bass, clearer highs, and better overall tuning for a more immersive sound. The dual glove box/storage setup is fantastic. Since both compartments are lockable, I’d use them all the time. The R2 in general has a ton of storage and little cubbies, with 90 cu ft of total storage space. The dual wireless phone chargers are also some of the best implemented I've seen. They use MagSafe, so your phones stay securely in place even when you’re throwing the R2 around off-road, and there is a little area for the phone camera bumps so the phone is flush. The infotainment system is fast and responsive, aside from the occasional minor lag, and the graphics look crisp. I absolutely love the huge navigation view that fills the screen. I wish I could do this in my Model Y. The Gauges section is also really cool, giving you real-time information like battery and motor temps. The Autonomy system works well, but it’s fairly limited in its current form. Think of it as advanced adaptive cruise control with lane keeping and the ability to change lanes on command. It can’t currently handle stop signs, traffic lights, or city driving. RJ has said an FSD (Supervised) like system is coming later this year, so we’ll see. The current R2s use Rivian’s older Gen 2 autonomy hardware. The next-generation Gen 3 hardware arrives next year and is expected to bring a significant increase in capability. It won’t be retrofittable to Gen 2 vehicles, though, so that’s something buyers should keep in mind. The second row has plenty of legroom and headroom. I was a little surprised that it doesn’t have acoustic windows, but it’s still pretty quiet back there. The full glass roof is nice and doesn’t make the cabin feel excessively hot. The interior lighting is VERY bright, which I love. It does a great job illuminating the entire cabin at night. Efficiency: I had the 20" all-terrain wheels, which are rated for 307 miles of range. Over my weeklong test, I averaged about 250–270 miles of range, or 12–19% below the stated range. During a 50-minute trip, with 85% highway and 15% non-highway driving and no crazy acceleration, I averaged 2.83 miles per kWh at an average speed of ~60 mph. That equates to 249 miles of range from a full charge to empty, despite being in Conserve mode. I had a few other trips with similar numbers. Will be interesting to see the what the winter range is like. If you're someone who doesn't go on long trips often or mostly stays in your area and charges at home, these efficiency numbers probably won't matter to you. Final thoughts: I won’t write out every thought here, you can check out my full review video below for that, but overall, the R2 is a great vehicle. It’s a very capable off-roader while still being a comfortable daily driver. The lack of an FSD-like system is a deal-breaker for me personally since I use FSD for virtually all of my miles. It's the most luxurious and mind-blowing vehicle feature on the market today, but that might not be a deal-breaker for other people, and that’s okay. The fact there there are good EVs available is great for consumers. Thanks again Rivian for letting me test the R2 for a week!
