It is encouraging to see the National Digital Alphanumeric Postcode System moving steadily from planning to implementation, with the commencement of the postcode delineation model validation exercise across the country. As field mappers begin engaging communities and validating the digital postcode model, we are taking another important step towards delivering a smarter, more secure, and digitally enabled addressing system for every Nigerian. I commend the Postmaster General/CEO of Nigerian Postal Service, Tola Odeyemi, and the entire NIPOST team for the dedication and professionalism they continue to demonstrate in driving this important national initiative. Every validated address brings us closer to a future where emergency response is faster, public services are more efficient, businesses can operate with greater confidence, and innovation is powered by trusted location intelligence. I look forward to the successful launch of the Postcode System in October and to the transformational impact it will have as another critical layer of Nigeria's Digital Public Infrastructure.

Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, disclosed this yesterday after briefing President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa. The three projects are: 1. Rollout of 90,000 km fibre optic network. This project, to be launched in a few weeks, will extend fibre optic cables to every state, geopolitical zone, local government area, and ward, significantly improving the quality and reach of internet connectivity. 2. Deployment of 3,700 telecommunications towers to provide network coverage for more than 20 million Nigerians currently living in rural communities without access to telecommunications services. 3. Launch of an alphanumeric postcode system on October 1, placing the country among the 10-15 nations worldwide using the advanced addressing technology. This will help identify every property in this country. According to Minister Bosun Tijani, the system will assign a unique address to every building, making deliveries faster, boosting e-commerce, strengthening security, and improving public service delivery.
