This is Mylapore, off Radhakrishnan Salai near Vivekananda college. NO ONE has come to clear the water here. It’s been like this since yesterday, and by the minute more sewage water is coming out and getting mixed. Water has entered all the houses at ground floor level here. Please do something about this and other parts of Mylapore. Water has never stagnated here, not even during the 2015 floods. All through the year, they kept digging up the roads and multiple times the roads caved in and they kept restoring. Now the whole thing has reversed and water is completely stagnated. People in the apartments and houses here are not able to step outside to get basic needs and provisions. Not even drinking water. We’ve not had power for more than 48 hours now. The power was cut around 10 PM day before yesterday. No network either, until we come out of the apartment or go to some corners in the terrace. Our bakery is now closed. We are producing zero bread for families in Gaza. This is particularly difficult to come to terms with when we remember what people have sacrificed throughout this genocide just for flour. Bread equals survival. When there was nothing else to eat, Palestinians risked, and so many lost, their lives trying to bring home enough flour to feed their families. We were so proud to build something sustainable in the North: a bakery families could count on for free bread. At full operation, we distributed up to 500 bundles every day - 10 loaves each, 5,000 loaves baked, so that 500 families were able to feel some relief knowing they had at least the bare minimum to eat. And we can scale up even further to 10,000 loaves per day. The ovens are there. The bakers are there. The families are waiting. The only thing standing between a closed bakery and thousands of loaves of free bread is funding. It costs just over $1,000 per day to operate our bakery and provide around 500 families with bread. Driving to dinner after the gym tonight - Sihanoukville is a ghost town. Quiet on levels not seen since the 2019 online gambling ban hit and almost like when the pandemic kept everyone inside. I really feel for sellers, servers, bartenders, cashiers, and Cambodians who came to Sihanoukville looking for work. Casino business is not sustainable especially when there are improper regulations and illegal operations are allowed to take place behind a licensed casino front. Casinos breed crime. Casinos bring the worst of the worst. While Sihanoukville might not return to what it was like back in the early 2000s, trashy casinos and the trashy people that come with them are not the answer.

This is precisely why our kids go off to public schools and come back so screwed up. A teacher on the first day of school… in the actual classroom… filming a full OOTD, kicking her leg up, skirt flaring, posing for the camera like it’s a fashion shoot instead of a place where kids are supposed to learn. At least she chose the sunny side of goth chic. Not lesson plans. Not standards. Not “welcome to class, let’s get to work.” This is what “professionalism” looks like now. The adults in charge of forming young minds treating the classroom like a personal content studio. Then parents wonder why kids come home with zero respect for authority, zero attention span, and completely inverted priorities. Public schools didn’t get broken by accident. This is the culture.
