If they do this then kids will just get around it and use open source decentralised blockchain platforms like mastadoon and steemit social media apps that runs on the blockchain and places like 4chan where there is ZERO regulation and protections against actual online and physical harms - this is the dark place on the web where you most certainly do not want your kids going! Once again the f*ckwits in Government thinking they know best, interfering with basic things (e.g. smoking,vaping for example) and creating an even bigger problem from their halfwit half thought-out solution.

This means every adult must sign in with digital id. It's not "mandatory" just like the 💉but if you want to log into a forum, Discord, Telegram, game console like PlayStation or Xbox or use Facebook Twitter Instagram YouTube etc Every adult must sign in. Just like China.🤔 The ones who won't be signing in with Digital ID will be U16. This legislation needs to be stopped in the senate! 😁👍🦘🇦🇺

As online harms intensify, children are particularly at risk. To better protect them, our government has introduced the Safe Social Media Act, which will make social media services and AI chatbot services safer for children. The bill, if passed, would require social media services and AI chatbot services to identify, mitigate, and address risks of harm on their platforms, and to develop services that are safe by design and put the safety of children first. It would also prevent Canadians under 16 from having accounts on social media services, while providing a process for social media platforms to seek an exemption if they can demonstrate that they have put in place a sufficient set of protections for children. This law is about holding platforms accountable and ensuring they have protections in place to keep children safe online, reduce harm before it happens, and ensure that digital spaces are safe by design all while protecting the privacy of Canadians.

Michelle Rowland announced on Friday that UK based Age Check Certification Scheme (ACCS) has been given a contract to trial various age-verification technologies that might be used to enforce the under 16s social-media ban. However the results of the trial aren't expect until mid 2025.
