Compared to Lotso, Stinky Pete got off easy.

Apparently, according to supplementary materials, he started to like his new owner over time.

Pete has been a collectible for so long, he doesn’t know how toys are meant to be played.

It seemed in a way Woody sympathized with Stinky Pete after hearing his rant about never being played with. Lotso, even with his backstory, however proved to be irredeemable, that Woody told the gang to leave him be.
