Punch cards were derived from the Jacquard loom, which used wooden “cards” with holes in them to automate the process of lifting the strings to produce a pattern. A man stepping on pedals to do it it is not programming.

Error correction. Peacock feathers do "fade" over time. Aged feathers turn a purplish. I know cause I have blues running around our farm and gather the feathers when they drop.
