CONFRONTING HARM REDUCTION: Tuesday afternoon, Seattle Councilmember Sara Nelson(@CMSaraNelson ) picked apart "harm reduction" experts during a Public Safety and Human Services Committee meeting. She asked for data and metrics showing the effectiveness of this model in addressing the out of control drug addiction crisis and record fentanyl overdose...

NO QUESTIONS ASKED UNLIMITED SUPPLY: Earlier this year, @weheartseattle ordered all these "harm reduction" supplies. Technically teens and kids in #Seattle can access all this stuff no questions asked.

UNENDING DRUG CRISIS: Teens and young people are now being targeted with drug paraphernalia, all in the name of "harm reduction." We also need more anti-drug education programs in our classrooms. #Seattle

THE COST AND MESSAGING OF HARM REDUCTION: Despite easy access to harm reduction supplies including fentanyl test strips, NARCAN, meth pipes, and clean needles…King County still saw a record number of drug overdose deaths last year. #Seattle

IS HARM REDUCTION REALLY WORKING? Advocates say it's one of the best ways to keep people safe and alive. Critics say it's enabling and making the problem worse. Here's how #Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell responded.

@CMSaraNelson They never have a straight answer. Only ideology and manipulated data.

@CMSaraNelson Was that Herbold who asked Nelson not to interrupt? How incredibly weird and awkward.

HUMAN TRAGEDY: The fentanyl crisis continues to play out on multiple streets in Seattle, especially in places like #Chinatown-ID. This evening, a young man in his 20's showed me the early stages of "TRANQ FENTANYL" eating away at his skin. Pills laced with xylazine, an animal tranquilizer, are starting to show up more often on the streets. It's also leaving addicts walking around in a zombie like stupor. Another man nearby using fentanyl said, "I can see the silhouette of a demon" in his friend's flesh eating wound. Camp Site Seattle and others have documented the aftermath of "tranq" across the city. There is no denying the zombie drug is here. Nothing has changed in Councilmember Tammy Morales'(Councilmember Tammy J. Morales) district. Where is Morales? This is all happening on her watch. She recently voted against a common sense drug bill that would have allowed the City Attorney to prosecute open air drug use and possession of illegal drugs. Even this addict says a few days in jail could help in the journey to detox. But no one in the "harm reduction" lobby is out here trying to intervene. They're just giving away drug supplies like foil and meth pipes. Someone please tell me, what's the "harm reduction" plan for "tranq?" NARCAN doesn't even work. It's so upside down in this city right now. #Seattle Mayor Katie B. HIDDEN SEATTLE: A few days ago, outreach group We Heart Seattle(We Heart Seattle) found a stolen United Rentals(United Rentals) forklift abandoned in a #Seattle homeless encampment along the East Duwamish Greenbelt. But there was much more. Walking further into the heavily wooded area, we discovered a constellation of tents and structures, even some set up under I-5 which is Washington State Department of Transportation(Washington State DOT) property. We spoke to several people who say they are intentionally trying to live off the grid. This is a choice. Once again, this is not a housing issue. "Housing first" is not working. Yet this entire region is doubling down on this failed policy. There are people who do not want to pay rent, bills, and are taking advantage of the free services here in #KingCounty. FACTS. The King County Regional Homelessness Authority(King County Regional Homelessness Authority) needs to accept this reality. So does the entire state of Washington. Don't just talk to the academics. Talk to the people actually living out here. More and more homeless say they will be moving out into the woods and just want to be left alone. Mayor Katie B. #BREAKING: After weeks of searching, missing homeless woman Kaylee Gordon has been found! Saturday evening, Kristine Moreland(Kristine) and her volunteers with homeless outreach group "The More We Love," found Gordon at the corner of 3rd Ave & Pike St. in downtown Seattle. As expected, it was an extremely difficult encounter. Gordon did not want to leave on her own. She assaulted me and street preacher Matthew Meinecke when we tried to help. But this was a blessing in disguise. The attack is what ultimately allowed Seattle Police to take her into custody and get her treatment at the hospital. We need more amazing officers like this! The race is now on for Gordon's family to get her out of Seattle and back home to Wyoming. She needs to get away from all the temptations and sketchy characters who are dragging her down. Props to We Deliver Care(WDC) worker Derwayne Trahan for pitching in to help as well. I know there are hundreds of other families out there who are still looking for their loved ones on the streets. It is possible to save them with the right interventions and volunteers who care. Once again, this is not an affordable housing issue. Broken relationships, mental illness, and drug addictions are fueling this crisis. Failed public policies to address these issues are making things worse. Stop this insanity. SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS: Chinatown-ID is in huge trouble and Councilmember Tammy Morales(Councilmember Tammy J. Morales) is MIA. More businesses are ejecting because of public safety concerns. Drug use and homelessness is even worse in this part of #Seattle, which is only a 5 min bus ride from downtown. This is where all the craziness converges. Look at this insanity Saturday afternoon. Not only do I carry NARCAN, I'm starting to give it away to addicts. Making matters worse, fights and arguments are constantly breaking out among users. One dude was like, " Can you shut the F**k up, I'm trying to get high." LOL. Morales' seat is up for grabs but she has yet to show up for her district. No chance she has the Asian American vote. I think that's the only reason why she's abandoned her responsibilities in this community. She's relying on far-left activists and socialists to put her back in power. In Little Saigon, the black market of stolen goods is insane at 12th Ave and Jackson St, which will be part of District 2 next year. Currently it's under Councilmember Kshama Sawant(Kshama Sawant) but she's already thrown in the towel. Mayor Katie B. HAPPENING NOW: Tuesday evening, several Ballard residents reached out and claimed a BABY was spotted in a tent next to the Fred Meyer and Albert Lee(Albert Lee Appliance) off NW 43rd St & 8th Ave NW. I immediately jumped in my car and drove over to investigate. This is a well known area for tents and RV's. It's been cleared multiple times by the city in the past year. When I arrived, I could not believe what I was seeing. A mother and her one-year old son were indeed living in this encampment. And the story gets even crazier. Her name is Kimberly Jenkins, the same woman I encountered last summer at the Fremont Canal Park homeless encampment. She's been on quite a journey. I tried to get her help. Not quite sure how she fell through the cracks. Life clearly happened. But she does not do #fentanyl or any illegal drugs. This right here is a case study on the importance of surrounding somebody with community, accountability, and walking with them until the end. King County Regional Homelessness Authority(King County Regional Homelessness Authority,) please send outreach workers. Councilmember Strauss(Councilmember Dan Strauss,) please personally go to this tent and help out this mom and her child living on the streets in your district. The WA State Department of Children, Youth, and Families(WA State Department of Children, Youth & Families) should be on this immediately. This is a call out to every elected official in #Seattle and #KingCounty who wants to help. This is an opportunity for a #OneSeattle moment. Mayor Katie B. ENCAMPMENT FIND: Wednesday afternoon, Tim Emerson with homeless outreach group We Heart Seattle(We Heart Seattle) was scouting an area along the East Duwamish Greenbelt near the border of SODO and Georgetown. He found a forklift reported stolen from a United Rentals(United Rentals) lot this past February. It's worth $150K! Still unclear how it ended up in this heavily wooded area in a homeless encampment. It was basically on the edge of a hill and could have easily rolled off into busy traffic along I-5. The company thanked We Heart and towed it out of the heavy brush. Once again, Andrea Suarez's(Andrea Suarez) crew going above and beyond for the community. Another only in #Seattle moment. Glad I showed up because in the process, I also uncovered another crisis in the woods. There are dozens of homeless people living in shacks and tents in this part of the city. There's also a constellation of encampments under Washington State Dept. of Transportation(Washington State DOT) property. Garbage, drug paraphernalia, and human waste all over the place. Totally insane, 3rd world stuff. Why is this being allowed? Working on that part of the story. #KingCounty King County Regional Homelessness Authority Seattle Parks Washington State Department of Commerce Mayor Katie B.
