Today, Hon'ble TMC (The Mamata Company) Speaker; Shri Biman Banerjee suspended Smt. Agnimitra Pal, Shri Bankim Ghosh and Shri Biswanath Karak, apart from me, till the end of this Budget Session of the West Bengal Assembly or for 30 days, whichever is earlier. Our fault was that we raised our Voice in favour of the Hindus and demanded to hold a discussion within the Assembly on an Adjournment Motion, which highlighted intimidation & obstruction by TMC Party Leaders at various places in the State of West Bengal, over organising Saraswati Puja earlier this month. The Anti Hindu Mamata Govt through their subservient Speaker suppressed our Voice and suspended us. This is the fourth time, Hon'ble Speaker have suspended me since 2022. Earlier for a total of eight months, I was kept out of the House, as per the instructions of Mamata Banerjee. Our undemocratic suspension is a concerted attempt to silence the voice of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly as BJP West Bengal is the principal and only opposition. Hon'ble Speaker must remember that the House belongs to the Opposition. Regarding the conduct of the Mamata Banerjee as an Opposition Leader, I would like to remind Hon'ble Speaker about two instances:- a) 04/08/2005; Lok Sabha: When Mamata Banerjee was denied permission to hold a discussion on the illegal immigrants from Bangladesh (how ironical) in 2005, she tore papers and threw them at the then Deputy Speaker; Shri Charanjeet Singh Atwal, but blamed the then Speaker; Shri Somnath Chatterjee for not allowing the discussion. b) 30/11/2006; West Bengal Legislative Assembly: Despite not being a Member of the Legislative Assembly, Mamata Banerjee stormed into the House and encouraged her underlings to shatter the heritage British-era furniture, including the benches where stalwarts like Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das, Sarat Bose, Dr. Shyamaprasad Mukherjee, Dr. Nilratan Sircar once sat as members of the Assembly. That day her minions engaged in unprecedented vandalism within the Assembly premises. Honouring Dr Annasaheb Dange ji’s Legacy of Service and Leadership... Glad to release 'Amravruksha', an autobiography based on the life and work of former Minister of Maharashtra Dr Annasaheb Dange ji (Appa) along with the inauguration and stone plaque unveiling of various buildings at the Ashta Educational Complex in Sangli today. Dr Annasaheb Dange ji is a respected senior leader who has made a lasting contribution to Maharashtra’s political and social life. His simplicity, discipline, strong conviction and deep understanding of people’s issues have always stood out. As Water Supply Minister, he took the initiative towards making Maharashtra tanker-free and established the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran to ensure drinking water for every village. He also played an important role in the farmers’ loan waiver movement in the late 1980s, bringing farmers’ concerns to the forefront. The State Government’s decision to waive loans of 56 lakh farmers is, in many ways, a tribute to the cause he championed decades ago. Dr Annasaheb Dange ji also took the initiative to identify and restore Chondi, the birthplace of Punyashlok Rajmata Ahilyadevi Holkar, and began the work on the memorial of Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe at Wategaon. His life and work remain an inspiration and I wish him many more years of good health and continued service. Legislative Council Chairman Prof Ram Shinde, Assembly Speaker Adv. Rahul Narwekar, Minister Chandrakant Dada Patil, Minister ShivendraSinh Raje Bhonsle, Minister Jaykumar Gore and other dignitaries were present. Simple Beginnings to the Apex of India’s Judiciary - A Journey Celebrated! Attended the felicitation ceremony of Chief Justice of India, Hon. Shri Bhushan Gavai ji, organised by the Maharashtra Legislature at Vidhan Bhavan, Mumbai. To see a son of Maharashtra, upholding the timeless values of simplicity, integrity, and compassion passed down by his father, late Dadasaheb Gavai, being honoured on such a meaningful platform was a moment to cherish. His journey inspires countless others. From studying in a municipal school, unfamiliar with English till Class 7, to rising to the Nation’s highest judicial post - Hon. Shri Bhushan Gavai ji has shown how sincerity, values, and determination can shape extraordinary destinies. As a government pleader, when the High Court ordered the demolition of decades-old slums in Nagpur, it was he who moved the Supreme Court, secured a stay, and safeguarded the homes and dignity of countless families. He has consistently upheld that justice must be fair, humane, and in public interest. His landmark verdict in the long-stalled Bhopal highway case reflected this belief. Amidst environmental hurdles, his bench swiftly brought together key decision makers and directed a resolution within a month. The move not only cleared the highway but also finalised a crucial mitigation plan and completed the vital tiger corridor, proving development and conservation can progress hand in hand. Recently, his important judgment on Vidarbha’s ‘Zudpi Jungles’ cleared several long-pending projects, secured land for forest development, and provided timely relief to local communities. Every chapter in his career reflects a people-first, balanced, and compassionate approach to justice. The Maharashtra Legislature was proud to felicitate such an outstanding son of this land, a man whose life and work continue to inspire through wisdom, courage, and quiet strength. Union MoS Ramdas Athawale ji, Legislative Council Chairman Prof. Ram Shinde, Legislative Assembly Speaker Adv Rahul Narwekar, DCM Eknath Shinde ji, DCM Ajitdada Pawar, Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Dr. Neelamtai Gorhe, Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Anna Bansode, Minister Chandrakantdada Patil and other members of the Legislature were present. I can’t be impeached as Lagos assembly speaker — Obasa roars The impeached speaker of the Lagos state house of assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has criticised the procedure that led to his removal from office. Speaking during a welcome rally at his residence in GRA, Ikeja on Saturday, January 25, the former speaker described the corruption allegations against him as “fictitious and unsubstantiated”. He maintained that he was not afraid of being impeached but emphasised that due process was not followed. The former speaker alleged that his removal was orchestrated while he was away, and accused the state commissioner of police of aiding the process. According to him, “There’s no impeachment in national assembly. You can’t impeach the speaker. I believe in removal and I am not afraid of being removed, after all, it is not my father’s chieftaincy title. I am representing my people and they have returned me six times. If you want to do anything, do it well. They did the removal all because I was out of the country. Lagos is a special place, we cannot denigrate the state. When former speaker, Rt. Hon Jokotola Pelumi was removed, he was in the assembly and we did not invite policemen. When my sister, former deputy speaker of the House, Hon. Adefunmilayo Tejuosho was removed, we did not invite the police. They should not discredit an innocent person, they should prove their allegations against me. The Lagos State House of Assembly is above the common standard of excellence. I believe in the image of our institution, we must not destroy it and I will never partake in its destruction. I appreciate the members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) and Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu of the state, he is my brother and he always calls me his younger brother.” Obasa was impeached on January 13 by more than two-thirds of the 40-member legislative house over alleged misconduct and sundry offences. His Deputy, Mojisola Meranda, was immediately elected the new speaker, becoming the first female to take charge of the legislative body in the South-West state.
