CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke returned to his residence in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district after leading a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged examination irregularities. Following his return, security outside his residence was increased, with police raising deployment from 11 to 15 personnel as a precautionary measure. A "janta darbar" is being held at Jantar Mantar. If ministers want to talk, they must come to the people. When Delhi Police invited us to Minister JP Nadda’s residence today, we categorically declined. We are not going to anyone’s closed doors or private homes. If security is a concern, we are open to a neutral venue near Jantar Mantar. But the government must show genuine intent to ACCEPT our demands, not waste our time with meaningless photo-ops. Thousands of students are here on the streets. Show real intent or face the people’s court! ✊🔥

Security can't be selective. Those protesting outside the PM's residence in 2012 were removed immediately. Today, Congress is calling supporters to gather at the very same location. Jantar Mantar is meant for protests. The PM's security should never become a political bargaining chip.

Sonam Wangchuk has been picked up from Jantar Mantar and forcefully taken to a hospital. This is not out of a concern for Sonam Wangchuk's health. This is to shut down a democratic protest. If this government cared about protesters, they would not have let GD Agarwal die. If this government cared about protesters, they would have opened up a dialogue with the hundreds of people still sitting at Jantar Mantar. Instead of protecting students, the government is protecting the Education Minister. We must all go to Jantar Mantar right now if we can. We must all join the Sansad Chalo march on 20th July.

“Even if he was protesting, he has a right to protest.” Oh my gosh YOU DO NOT HAVE A RIGHT TO PROTEST INSIDE A CHURCH OR DURING A SERVICE. Do I have a right to protest inside your bedroom? How about inside an abortion clinic? Hell, I don’t even have the right very often to protest OUTSIDE a clinic. “You have a right to protest” is such a low-IQ red herring response when that’s not the question at hand.

During interaction with students yesterday, one thing that struck me is the sheer demonisation of protests in all these years. Some kids had come to Jantar Mantar at CJP protest to witness their “first ever protest in life.” (Listen to one such interaction below) The crowd was a mix -Youngsters from humble backgrounds, from affluent families, and also elderly people. Most said the country’s mainstream media (TV channels) failed to show the country’s reality and were biased. Most were tired of Hindu-Muslim shows. #GenZ

In a democracy, staging sit-ins and protests is a hallmark of the system. However, where and how should a protest be conducted? What are the rules governing protests? What are the rules by which the country functions? The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) ought to be aware of this. Rahul ji is no ordinary leader; he is the Leader of the Opposition in the country. He is well aware that there are designated areas and spaces in Delhi specifically earmarked for protests. Despite this, staging a sit-in protest with a large crowd right outside the gate of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence—suddenly, without permission, and in disregard of the law—is inappropriate. That is not how democracy functions. The Prime Minister's residence is a high-threat perception zone; it commands a certain protocol and sanctity. Under such circumstances, what if undesirable elements were to infiltrate that crowd, seeking to exploit the situation or compromise safety and security? Would that be appropriate for democracy? Is it right to expose the Prime Minister's premises and residence to such security risks? Is it proper to play games with his security?
