Instead of addressing the suffering of students and their families, you have chosen the familiar Congress playbook: deflect, deny and indulge in whataboutery. No amount of spin can change the fact that the Congress government failed to ensure smooth traffic movement and facilitate students appearing for one of the most important examination. These students did not miss their exam because of circumstances beyond anyone’s control. They missed it because of your government’s failure.

When such incidents happen, the most to suffer is the fairer gender, the girls. Travel, trouble, trauma – all accompany being a girl in India. While 99,083 boys did not appear for the exam, the girls who did not appear is 180.862 students. Historically, the registered to appeared students is about 97%. In Re-NEET, it was 12.28%; a jump of 400% of those who did not appear. Would some one be held accountable for robbing 2.05 lac students? Any guilt? Ant repercussion of institutional failure? The brutal and cruel attitude of this Modi government was witnessed in the national capital yesterday. Students from all over the country are here to protest over the NEET and CBSE exams. The students of India have genuine issues. They are holding a peaceful protest over those issues. Is this the way to deal with a peaceful protest? This government is scared and completely insensitive. We are going to raise this issue again in the House today. We have already moved an adjournment motion condemning the lathi charge, asking for the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan and asking for a clear-cut action on NEET and CBSE exam leaks. Modi is totally anti-student and anti-youth. He does not understand the psychology and pain of the students and youth of this country. He is completely responsible for yesterday's incident. The politicisation of the protests in the name of students is now complete. After days of violence, vandalism and orchestrated disruption, the Opposition has abandoned any pretence that this was about students. Instead of debating the issue in Parliament, they have chosen street politics and are now busy fighting among themselves over who deserves credit. It has descended into: ॰ AAP vs Congress ॰ Congress vs SP ॰ Sonam vs Congress ॰ Sonam vs Dipke and Saurav Das ॰ Dhaiya vs Dipke The only losers in this political slugfest are genuine students, whose concerns have been hijacked for partisan ends. Sonam Wangchuk’s wife castigating Rahul Gandhi only shows that she has picked a side, the side sponsoring the politics of the street veto. Tragic. We witnessed similar scenes unfold in Ladakh last year. The Wangchuks’ chequered record is once again on display. It is our collective responsibility to stand up for students and protect their interests. They must not be reduced to cannon fodder in the Opposition’s cynical political games. Genuine students deserve solutions, not sponsored chaos; dialogue, not violence; and accountability, not political one-upmanship.
