It's completely wrong. The proper tool crimps the wire correctly. No folding is required. The other part is designed to grip the insulation and form a strain relief. Notice how easily the wire bends at the connector during the demonstration. This connection will fail in time.

Just use the correct crimper and trim insulation according to the manufacturer instructions

Just buy the correct tool and crimp the wire accordingly… these videos are a fucking nightmare…

Looks like electrical work from the eighties Just use modern stuff like this

This is not right. The second crimp is to go around the insulated part, and folding will weaken the leads. This is really to be soldered to be done properly.

This is a terrible repair ! You must use a proper crimping tool to insure the proper crimping for electrical conductivity . The outer crimp is meant to be crimped around the insulation to prevent excessive flex at termination point

I want to find the person that made this video and make them redo it properly.

This is how it should look after crimping the right way.

During WWII, aluminum wiring briefly replaced copper in homes due to metal rationing. The result? House fires from loose connections, leading to today's strict electrical codes and better connector designs like this one.

First is for the wire, second is for the coating, and for crying out loud use a heat gun.

When you post these videos showing bad practice in doing electrical wiring please make it clear that's what it is. The way it's presented seems to make most people think this is the right way to do it rather than alerting them to the bad practice.

Use the correct crimping tool, not a pair of ordinary pliers and the conductor plus the insulation will be correctly gripped

Don't do this. By folding the wire over a sharp metal edge, you've introduced a potential failure point. If the wire isn't staying in place due to your crimp, then you also won't have a good electrical connection. Poor electrical connections are a source of heat.

either way you do it, the wire insulation gets crimped into the tabs at the end of the connector

@grok does folding copper wire shown in this video safe? Also go dumb does a person need to be to follow this instruction?

Thats not IPC 620A. How bout a cheap crimp tool.

Maybe try using the right crimping tool

Or just use the correct tool.

It is TOTALLY WRONG! Never do that! It is risky and unprofessional, and shows a lack of proper practice. Use IPC-A-620 standard (or similar) for crimped connections. More here:

This is SO wrong and will fail in time. No strain relief, no crimp, insulated portion not crimped at all, folded over wire and the terminal in a vise. If I ever shipped out a terminal like this in my business I would have lost customers fast. First of all, use the terminal properly. Cut the wire properly and crimp, do not fold over. Crimp the bare wire and crimp the insulated portion. And good grief, use a heat gun…
