That's not what happened. Long story short, Wong was set up inside, the pitch ended up outside. A lot of times when this happens an ump will make the wrong call cause he will set up behind the catcher. The catcher having to move will make the ump lose the strike zone unfortunately.

The ump still needs to call balls and strikes correctly, regardless of the performative antics of a catcher. We need that strike zone technology yesterday — the human error of umps is egregiously on display.

It’s hard to frame a pitch well when the pitcher misses the spot by over a foot. Way more on the ump than the catcher
