36L/18R ➜ 1L/19R Last night, the first phase of CLT’s runway renumbering was completed as Runway 36L/18R officially became 1L/19R. It's a big task as runway numbers can measure 60 feet tall by 20 feet wide. In addition to pavement markings, signs need to be changed on the taxiways, connectors and runway. Why the change? With CLT’s new 10,000-foot Fourth Parallel Runway (1C/19C) set to open in 2027, the Airport is preparing now for system-wide consistency, safety and FAA compliance.

Before a 190,000-pound bridge can be lifted into place on active Metro-North tracks over the course of 48 hours, it has to get to Harlem first. Weeks before each weekend replacement, crews transport, outfit, and position each piece of the bridge so everything is perfect when the installation window arrives. This is the work behind the work. UPDATE: The Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey , has met with developers of the Koforidua China Mall project to assess progress on drainage works that prompted the suspension of construction at the site. During the meeting, both parties agreed that work on the main culvert and drainage infrastructure will begin on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, following approval of the drainage design plans. The Minister reiterated that construction of the mall will remain on hold until all drainage-related concerns have been adequately resolved. She further indicated that the public will soon be updated on traffic management arrangements, including any road diversions that may be necessary to facilitate the construction works.
