Wildfires in Texas kept firefighters busy the last few days as fire weather conditions linger over the region. This is the Lavender Fire in Potter county, burning 18,300+ acres, but firefighters have been able to bring it to 40% contained. The 8 Ball Fire in Armstrong and Donley counties burned 13,500+ acres and is now 55% contained. Firefighters continue to work wildfires in Oklahoma, The Ranger Road being the largest at 283,000+ acres and 15% contained. The Steven’s Fire outside Hooker, Oklahoma is 13,000 acres and 60% contained, and the Poor Farm Fire outside Hartshorne, OK, is 9,000 acres and 25% contained. #UPDATE On #BonnevilleFire is currently mapped at 395 acres and 0% contained. The fire remained active overnight, and firefighters worked the perimeter throughout the night. No residences under evacuation, and the shelter in place was lifted around midnight last night. Fire Officials ask residents and the public to avoid the area as much as possible to not impede firefighter traffic. A TFR (Temporary Flight Restriction) is in place over the fire area. Drones are prohibited within the TFR. The trails in the area are also closed (Bonneville Trail, City Creek, Dry Creek, Red Butte). Law enforcement will be patrolling the area and dealing with and intrusions, either drones or trails.

An incredible view of firing Ops on the Iron Fire in Utah. Crews continue to build containment and completed a burn the western flank yesterday, but fire weather and winds continue to be problematic. Fire managers and crews continue to asses direct and indirect options moving forward. Additional firing ops took place last night on the eastern flanks, working to tie it in just north of Highway 6. Extreme fire weather is expected in the coming days, and contingency plans are also being worked on in case it jumps the highway. The fire is now 37,170 acres and 17% contained. The Cottonwood Fire has been updated to 61,137 acres, and resources continue to work towards containment, and are busy constructing firelines. Today the fire service urged people not to go walking in the exclusion zone around the area, as this prevents helicopters being used to drop water on the fire.

VCFD along with LA County Fire and CAL FIRE are on scene of a brush fire south of the 126 FWY, east of Piru. The fire is currently reported at 50 acres with a moderate rate of spread in medium fuels and located in steep terrain with difficult access. Firefighters are aggressively working from the air and ground to attack the fire. Multiple fixed wing aircraft and helicopters are assigned to the incident along with over 100 firefighters assigned to the incident. Evacuation warnings have been issued for areas east of Lake Piru to the Los Angeles County line. Residents are encouraged to follow for the latest updates on evacuations.

In a press conference minutes ago, authorities said the Aspen Acres Fire is now 7 miles from Wetmore, Colorado, and now a mandatory evacuation is in effect for the Wetmore area. From Pueblo county line, to Mackenzie Junction, to Fremont county to the North. For an idea of how far this fire has run, the original evacuation shelter was in Wetmore… People are NOT being allowed into the fire area. The plan to asses homes lost has been postponed today due to fire activity. This fire is likely well over 40,000 acres now. Fire managers said they had to order a Team from Alaska due to other fires across the West utilizing a large number of resources. Red flag conditions persist over the fire area. 📷 Thomas Alvis
